Since the start of COVID, the number of people reporting a disability soared. Yet the majority of the world acts like COVID is over, and Long COVID doesn't exist.

I see that those much-vaunted 'Western values' and 'Christian beliefs' at the heart of the Trump administration have been in action again. They're going to try to destroy Europe, to tear it apart from within. That's all there is to it. www.ft.com/content/3f95...

@cornishbirdblog.com
can you help?
There are some geographic mysteries in this post, especially at the Cornish end, and if anyone is a local history nerd I would love to hear from you! #cornwall #kernow
I wrote a new thing about travel and history and the human landscape. If you enjoy it please share! 👍

As we point out in the paper, functional signs and symptoms can be real, too. We don’t think there should be any stigma against them.

Pointing out Long Covid isn’t FND doesn’t perpetuate a stigma. It advocates for accurate diagnosis and treatment for people with Long Covid *and* people with FND.

It is however nuts that for literally the most predictable NHS crisis we still rely on the luck of the disease draw (and the weather) every winter.

@paulmainwood.bsky.social put it brilliantly a few weeks ago in his substack (which I recommend). 5/6

Me: "Excuse me, did I just hear you say you have whooping cough?"

Her: "Yes. The doctor has just prescribed me antibiotics."

Me: "Did he say anything about not mixing until the antibiotics have taken effect?"

Her: "I don't think so."

Why is this not a surprise? Covid is still here disabling HCWs, but where is the ventilation, HEPA filters and N95 masks?

#medsky folks can you reskeet and help me find women’s health, reproductive health and disability aware healthcare workers?
I’m taking a “if you build it - they will come” approach to this starter pack.

I’m looking for healthcare workers who have a specific focus in women’s health, reproductive health and/or disability & chronic illness (or all 3!)

Open to all disciplines! The pack is small now but will add as I go:

A word of caution:
before you declare
that you survived
the pandemic
so you can survive
whatever comes next,
remember:
you have not survived
the pandemic
rather you are surviving
the pandemic,
and now you will need
to keep doing that
while also surviving
whatever comes next.
