Recently learned that Bill Willingham is… the way he is. Which is disappointing as a huge fan of Shadowpact (and Day of Vengeance). BUT thankfully Lilah Sturges is actually cool as hell.

“It seems redundant for a woman as successful, as validated in the world [as JKR]... to be negative, to be disruptive, to a very beaten up subculture. These are human beings. She has no right to opine upon the lives of human beings that she does not know.”
'Hellraiser' writer Clive Barker on homophobia in publishing
Clive Barker's 'Hellraiser' is one of the best-loved horrors of all time. Here, the writer discusses homophobia in the 1980s publishing industry and JK Rowling.

people being “shocked” he’s defying the courts… this is EXACTLY what Andrew Jackson with the Trail of Tears 195 years ago. Your system could have corrected this 1000xs over, but it benefits the powerful and white too much.

It comes back to the fundamental issue with this county: you don’t see us.

The FDA might not take H5N1 seriously but every Mask Bloc is stocking up on N95s.

SNAP might get cut off but Food Not Bombs will still be handing out food each week.

FEMA might get gutted but Mutual Aid Disaster Relief will still be mucking & gutting houses.

And most of all... these EOs are not law, they are not passed by congress, do NOT comply.

For years the Democrats primary theory of governance has been "we know how to run the apparatus of government, and we can do it in a way that cares about you." Which was ringing more and more hollow as things got worse.

Trump is attempting to unilaterally freeze trillions of dollars in federal spending that’s been duly appropriated by Congress. This is completely insane and illegal. He’s seizing unlawful control over the constitutional spending power? Five alarm fire www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion
The Trump administration has put a hold on all federal financial grants and loans, affecting tens of billions of dollars in payments.

also, most of us have discovered over the last five years that the style of protests YOU want *don't work*. they only help the police-state tighten their grip.

kids are inventive. doing it quietly and subtly bc unfortunately, they *have* to. that's how far down the line of fascism we are *already*
it's odd seeing older folks blame students for not 'protesting' against white supremacy rn. what did you think would happen?

you didn't support the encampments. they were against *apartheid*. kids were met with police-state violence & threats.

you. did. this. they cannot speak out now.

I've built a machine that can be Confidently Wrong. It can also make pictures that all look a bit the same, as well as make a video of you kissing any celebrity or person you know. In payment, I'd like to boil the world's oceans dry, & steal all literature. For some reason, my head is not on a spike

if you're an artist have the most confidence in the world bc somewhere there is a doofus applying for government funding for nfts
went to a presentation about govt funding and grants for the arts. a guy there had the gall to not only offer unfunny quips and interruptions, but to say "i make nfts" in a room full of artists and "if you have trouble with your application for the grant, use chat gpt"

Genuinely think anyone can “git gud” at any creative craft they are interested in. If we wanted to actually “democratize” art we would invest in housing, healthcare, food and education as human rights. All GenAI does is make people even more financially precarious and less able to pursue a passion
I think a bit of the "AI is democratizing art" argument is trying to avoid the ugly truth that to get good at anything you have to do a lot of it. I grew up "knowing" I was a good writer, but I really wasn't until about 700k words, and it took reading hours of scripts to really have a voice
