It is essential that our downtown leaders start telling a more positive, exciting, and forward-thinking vision for downtown, instead of focusing so often on what is wrong with it.
Rose is extolling the virtues of downtown, but hates how much of downtown is devoted to "cars and parking." There are huge empty lots "where buildings used to be, where housing and local businesses could grow." Imagine how nice it could be to walk to the waterfalls from your downtown apt, she said.

The saga continues!

Why is the United States an infamous outlier in traffic safety in the developed world?
One reason is that all levels of government make it easier to keep dangerous street designs than to fix them. See David's post below for the 👨🏻‍🍳💋 story in miniature.

I’m losing my mind here. USTR made a list of “Unfair trade practices” they’re retaliating against, complaint number 5 is that the EU cares too much about stopping illegal deforestation, complaint number 7 is that the South Americans are doing too much illegal deforestation

One thing I'll say to Democratic Party insiders...

Please stop listening to people who make all of their money selling TV ads. Just...every Monday for the next year, spend time imagining what you'd do if you couldn't spend money on TV and had to do other things with that money.

Elon Musk has updated his post with new language apparently after being informed that his previous tweet was evidence that he was committing a state felony.

Screenshots live forever.

The Spokane area is growing faster than the state as a whole, driven in part by our willingness to build.

Under the House GOP’s budget plan, the lowest-income taxpayers would see a LOSS of $1,125.

The richest 0.1 percent of taxpayers, on the other hand, would see a more than $180,000 GAIN.

This is trickle down economics on steroids.

A new state bill from @scottwiener.bsky.social would allow lots of new homes near transit stations.

This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office.
2) Elected officials rewrite the rules in the donors' favor.
3) Donors make a huge profit.
4) Repeat.

For the sake of democracy, we must get Big Money out of politics.

I bought a Tesla because it was fast like a rocket ship. But now every time I drive it, I feel like a rolling billboard for a man dismantling our government and hurting people. So Tesla, you’re fired!

New ride coming soon.

There's nothing cringe or uncool about civic boosterism.

Even if your city sometimes (hell, even frequently!) embarrasses you, frustrates you, annoys you, or hurts you.

I'm passionate about Spokane not only because I know it can be better, but because I know it *deserves* to be better.

Taking a chance that you might see this. Have democrats thought about hosting town halls for constituents of Republicans who refuse to? Seems like a very smart thing to do. Democrats could listen to their concerns and let them know what they as a party could do for them.
