In 'Some Thoughts on the Common Toad', Orwell attacked those who think that "nothing is to be admired except steel and concrete" & argued that love of nature "makes a peaceful and decent future a little more probable"

Rachel Reeves should take note

It’s spooky season, but let’s not make it scary for wildlife! 🎃👻

Fake web decorations can trap and injure our garden wildlife. Stick to sustainable, indoor decorations and let real spiders do the work outdoors!

We have many of these growing around the edges of the nursery, planted more when we arrived and even called our new home Oak Lodge. It’s wonderful to live amongst them 🌱
A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen. Nature is amazing - we need more of it, not less. Please repost if you agree 🌳

Are we the bad guys? How did newts, bats and now snails become the unlikely poster children of an anti-growth narrative? A healthy, functioning natural environment is not a luxury — it’s essential to economic resilience, public health, and wellbeing.

Today (date), the Slender-billed Curlew was declared extinct. The first bird extinction on mainland Europe in 500 years — on our watch. Extinction is final. No going back. Think about that.

Swift bricks. So simple but SO hard. Especially when up against this kind of bonkers mindset from government:

“No 10 and Angela Rayner are worried of doing anything that’s deemed woke, and nature is in that bracket”

It's hard to get your head around the scale of the environmental vandalism the Labour government is hoping to unleash. The Planning and Infrastructure Bill is up there with Trump's executive orders. And the reason is the same: corporate power.

Absolutely horrific, never will I eat there again!!!
A 450-yo oak is felled without permission by a Toby Carvery (don’t eat there), who falsely claimed it was "dead".
A tree alive when The Gunpowder Plot was hatched, which supports a web of 2000+ species, is in pieces.
