Recording plants and collecting data is really important for conservation. And none of it would be possible without volunteers.

One special group helping us safeguard East Anglia’s rarest plants is the brilliant Breckland Flora Group, who are celebrating their 10th anniversary!!🥳

What could the future look like if more isn't done to save wildflowers?🌼

Great piece from the BBC's Martha Kearney on the dwindling number of wildflowers & planting a meadow.

We agree - the climate & nature crises are linked & must be addressed together.

⚠️But again, there's a species-rich 'grassland gap' in vital government strategies!

To deliver, the UK government must commit to developing a Grassland Action Plan 👉 loom.ly/IGb6j_Q
🚨 The Govt has just published its Carbon Budget Delivery Plan - we are calling for nature to be at the heart of net zero

“Only nature can put the ‘net’ in ‘net zero’, by restoring landscapes with woodlands, peatlands, wetlands and wildflower meadows"

It's been a late start this year with the dry weather but the grassland fungi are finally appearing. I'm going to post a waxcap species each day as we move through peak fruiting season, hoping to encourage folks to recognise and record this important group. @plantlifeuk.bsky.social

Grassland fungi are not as showy as usual this year. I had to do a lot of searching to find not many species today. A bit more rain should bring more out hopefully.

The #AlpineGentian has brilliant blue, trumpet-shaped flowers. In the UK, it grows only high up in the Scottish Highlands and flowers each year from mid-summer to autumn. You might also spot it in the Alps, Pyrenees & Balkans!
