distant prism sky
tesselating bank of clouds
bright endless sunset

rainbow in the west
deepest blue of distant space
fire cresting the rim

ember of sunset
primary colors remain
lingering a while

Flat earth gone! Away from me
A midnight sun is all I see
A future that I can't concieve,
I just don't know what to believe.
I need to know more about this, this is catnip

They actually flew some flat earthers down to Antarctica to see the 24 hour sun (something that’s not possible according to them) and at least one guy has given up being a flat earther and the community is not having a good time

For about ten years I've thought about what a Tom Waits TV Christmas special produced in the early 80s would have been like. It's almost real to me. The set is a Depression-era shack he built and a stream of celebrity hobos keep knocking on the door and Tom goes "I wOnDEr WHo tHaT cOuLd bE"

Nearing the end of @fotoole.bsky.social's very good 2021 memoir/retrospective of Ireland in his lifetime and struck by how much the schmoozy corruption and sense of unreality he describes in the Haughey era is echoed by past decade of US politics, though obviously under a very different context.
