I found Geraldine through a job board site, where she was the only person making sense. This was a quick clear read and I appreciate her story and her action.
Tuesday I went to my senators' offices. Being in DC this week has been incredibly educational. Whether productive in any other way remains to be seen. Sharing my thoughts of the day in my blog. Please share. open.substack.com/pub/whathapp...
Visiting my Senators
A lot of my experiences in DC/Maryland deserve more time to think about and to tell, but in the intensity of this week, I have to pick and choose where to focus.

Fantastic thread 🪡 💕
Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

physics of climate impacts 101:
- Stuff gets hot (worse heatwaves)
- Hot air holds more water vapor (heavier rainfall)
- Hot air is thirstier air (higher drought risk)
- Warm water is hurricane food (stronger storms)
- Hot water expands and hot ice melts (sea level rise)

Recently I visited friends & their toddler sat on my lap playing with yarn. He said he was going to make me a dress & attentively wrapped the yarn around itself in various shapes for 20 mins. He asked if I liked it. I said I loved it. We hugged.

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

OpenAI doesn't report a single number for its climate impacts - not anywhere, in any way, shape or form.

It sounds kind of obvious but the fact that a company with such incredible electricity hunger isn't disclosing basic information about its energy consumption and associated emissions is v bad..

Whenever I come across James Baldwin’s quotes or likeness I think about how his debate with William Buckley was a jewel in my American Lit curriculum and basically taught itself.
“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist”
