Glad to get RTMA, satellite, single-site radar and mosaic radar in a single native app for my @allisonhouse.com customers and RS Pro subscribers.
RadarScope 5.5 is rolling out today for Apple platforms, Android, and Windows. It includes MRMS, GOES, and RTMA products for Pro Tier Two and AllisonHouse customers on Windows, and new watch and warning types for all platforms.

The U.S. used to have 400-500 lightning fatalities a year. Globally, we see 24,000 fatalities a year from lightning - many of them occurring at sporting events.

Really shameful to see this on Big Noon Kickoff.

🚨 BREAKING: Charlie Kirk has been shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University. This heinous and vile attack is a stain on our democracy. Violence must NEVER be the answer to political disagreements—our strength is in ideas, not bloodshed.

Cancelling the next PAR R&D phase is nonsensical. PAR technology is our best candidate to replace our aging fleet of WSR-88Ds.

Weather radar is one of the most lifesaving and highest-ROI technologies our gov’t has ever supported. Scrapping next gen radar is pound-foolish w/o the penny-wise part.
Important weather science news tonight: NOAA has canceled procurement of the next phased array weather radar R&D instrument. Along with the obvious blow to PAR weather research, it is consistent with other moves by admin to push forward quickly with NOAA cuts. More: https://tinyurl.com/my8hx8j6

For those wondering why their favorite apps Super-Resolution data is still working, that's because it's generated from Level 2 data which is working fine. @radarscope.app and @allisonhouse.com both generate their own Super-Resolution data separate from the NWS' Level 3.

Another day, another AI-generated radar application where the developer needs my help because they didn't a) ask permission b) request documentation and c) know what in the world they were even doing. Bonus points to the "developer" for using AI to write the support ticket.

"I never said you claimed to have it I was told by my AI assistant you did and they were obviously wrong."

Glorious. "I didn't say that, my AI assistant did!" What a world we live in these days.

First it was noticeable that AWS was having issues (Twitch). No status update.
Then, GCP was having issues (Discord).
No status update.
Now Cloudflare reports issues?
What in the world is going on here?
Was it CF all along?
Why can't I load my GCP Console if it's only CF?

Suddenly everyone believes that they're able to write a better weather app than those that are already out there.
I'm all for innovation but when you come to me asking for my weather data for some AI-written slop and don't even know how to program, neither of us are going to have a good time.

From the NWS (what @akrherz.bsky.social and I suspected):

Data dissemination problems have resumed. Radar data, obs and products (including WWA) are seeing frequent and lengthy delays.
NCF support are investigating the issue.

SHARPLib v1.0.0-rc.4 is available via ‘pip’ on PyPI, as well as ‘conda’ on conda-forge.

Because of its release candidate status, it is not yet in the main conda-forge channel, but still accessible.
