I'm Steve, I tend to read scary books. I post about them, review some, try to interact with the kind people who write them. My cat likes Insomnia by King as much as me apparently

And here I thought the most commas in a sentence was Absolution with like 15, @danielkraus.com seems to doing a 304 page sentence in Angel Down lol (in chapter 3 so I'm going to assume the trend continues)

Reading The Fervor by @almakatsu.bsky.social, man this book is flying but also depressing, too close to today's world and also the beginning of covid. Oof. 2/3 done and man it's flying

I saw a sheet lying on the floor, it must have been a ghost that had passed out... SO I KICKED IT!
Everyone has one Mitch Hedberg joke stashed in their brain like a squirrel to sustain them whenever they need to feel joy for 30 seconds and mine is “they say the recipe for Sprite is Lemon and Lime but I tried to make it at home, there’s more to it than that”

My word @natcassidy.bsky.social! When the Wolf Comes Home is so damn good. I'm only 17% through it and it will be one of the best of the year, you can feel it

4.5/5. @joshmalerman.bsky.social is just always great. Loved revisiting the world of Bird Box. The idea of trying to find lost family is great and the world trying to modernize while still not seeing is a very interesting aspect. Not sure I love the description of the creatures but that's it

4.5/5 stars. Loved this by @catrionaward.bsky.social . Naturally the interview with @talkscaredpod.bsky.social made me appreciate it even more. There is a lot to juggle mentally in this book but this will for sure have to be re-read to watch the whole novel unwrap in a whole new way. Just fantastic

4/5 stars. Honestly been a week since I finished it. Wasn't sure at first but the more I think the more I enjoyed it. Loved the very different vampire lore and the revenge plot.

I mean very obviously Hegseth should resign, and if it were a Democratic administration this would be quickly be a consensus position.

4.5/5 stars easily for The Twisted Ones by @tkingfisher.com . I love her writing and her humor in here towards NPR has me cracking up, but this was creepy and unsettling. It has you constantly on guard waiting for the next creepy horror. Also can I get some more Foxy??? She is just a badass!

Going to finish @tkingfisher.com 's Twisted Ones today and of course, it's pledge week in Seattle lol

4/5 for What Moves the Dead by @tkingfisher.com. I wasn't sure what to expect from this one going into it and loved the concept. I remember reading about zombie ant fungus so I had an idea where it was going but it was still fun getting there. Can't wait to read the next, but first The Twisted Ones

4/5 stars. Really enjoyed the writing, the friendship, the creatures. Was a really interesting story with all the stuff about Hurricane Maria and what it did to PR. I am just not sure about the ending. Just didn't care for it really. It's too bad. I still want to read Gabino's other big novel

5/5. Oh man this was fantastic! Thank you @gwendolynkiste.bsky.social . Just a special book. Very original, heartbreaking. Glad I own this as I will be re-reading this one! Very deserving of the Stoker nomination

2/5. I loved the Southern Reach trilogy, blazed through it, was excited for this. It feels like 2 short novels that are loosely tied. The tonal shift at the 1/2 point going to Lowry was jarring and frustrating as I was liking Old Jim and Cass. If there is a next, will have to think before reading

YES! Clay deserves this. One of the best reads. You will laugh and you will cry and there are parts that get under your skin. Clay is the best and he should win this
