Not kidding when I say they should fund the free buses by actually enforcing driving and parking rules. Walk around any neighborhood of NYC for an hour and you will witness ~30 ticketable offenses. Everyone will get around faster if people follow the rules. Iron-fist it. Cameras on every stoplight.

Every so often there will be some celebrity who moves to Texas and embarrassingly pretends to be a cowboy and people think this will discredit them among Texans, as if fake cowboys didn't outnumber real ones 1000:1 in Texas already. "pretend to be a cowboy" is the actual culture!

Look based on what Trumpism consists of, maybe the thing the forgotten young male voters actually do yearn for is children of immense privilege who adopt the trashy working class signifiers as a costume. Those guys have done great in the last 10 years!

Regardless of shooter ideology (though shooters often share a stated ideology that gets overlooked by initial reporting), mass shootings have an ideological form, which is that agency belongs to those willing to do violence, that the dead deserve their fates, that this is the point of gun power.

I also want to help these people, as insane & evil as they are. But in this case, they didn't make it difficult, they literally made it impossible– they took the $5m, called us communists for giving it to them, and then sat on it so it wouldn't help people in blue states. The paradigm has to change
i still disagree with the sentiment; there's good people everywhere, and we help people because it's the right thing to do.

If so, it would be our equivalent of abolition in the 19th century or decolonization in the 20th: the end of a barbaric and inhumane practice that the world is organized around and, as such, whose end is (at first) almost impossible to imagine and widely believed to be a naive dream.
