Most red states are just violently gerrymandered states.

AND — as I’ve said before and will say again — if you genuinely care about liberation, you want liberation for EVERYONE.

Freedom is not to be hoarded.

Maggie Smith: "If we’re going to withstand the rise of AI, I think we need to double down on our humanity. We can do things that generative AI can’t do, because we have experiences that AI can’t have. We can dream and imagine. We can second-guess ourselves, doubt, regret. We can hope and grieve."

The only piece of life advice I have in 2025 is if you feel like you’re doomscrolling endlessly you probably are, and the minute you feel that way you should take some kind of action—and this can even just be donating 5 bucks somewhere—and then putting your phone anyway.

For every $1 spent on climate resilience and preparedness, communities save $13 in damages and cleanup costs.

NOAA saves lives AND billions of dollars.

Trump and Musk's dismantling of NOAA has nothing to do with "fraud" or "waste" — it's just mindless destruction that will make us all worse off.

I think we really need to repeat, and keep top of mind - The federal employee firings are NOT ABOUT SAVING MONEY. What is spent on those employees is peanuts compared to most of the money in the government.

Firing federal employees sows confusion, depletes morale, and degrades government service.

These are very good suggestions, but a few key ones are missing: attend library board mtgs and speak in favor (many are on zoom), donate $, and vote for measures and bonds to increase funding. Patrons have real power. Don't let a handful of bigots destroy your library.
One thing before tomorrow:

Use your local libraries.

Get your card.

Borrow books, manga, films, audios, ebooks.

Recommend titles for purchase (usually online).

Attend promoted activities.

Fill out those "How are we doing?" questionnaires.

Tell your kids that libraries are good.

They are.
