What a shocker. Agriculture minister who’s also a livestock farmer thinks livestock farmers should be free to continue to pour shit into our waterways with impunity, all the while pocketing taxpayer subsidies. This is his “ambition”.

What a country we live in.

Excellent article from @elainemcgoff.bsky.social on the many, many failures that have led us to where we are.

Nobody asked the people of this country if we were willing to sacrifice our waterways so the dairy industry could wallow in profits

Most Irish people want clean water, not a nitrates derogation
Has the Government ever asked the people of Ireland if they agree with pulling on the green jersey to convince Europe to give us another derogation?

The idea that being financially shackled to a car is seen as 'independence' for young people is one of the motor industries more successful lies.

Today feels like a good day to remind everyone that there is literally no empirical evidence that economic growth will just continue if the world heats up to, say, 3°C by 2100.

Continued growth is just *assumed* in every economic model of the relationship between temperatures and growth.

In the first decades of my life, October temperatures were in the 50s.

What is 3°C going to look like?

Anyone who thinks 3°C heating won't be catastrophic is insane.
