it’s really damn bleak right now & it’s hard to feel good about anything but some trans folks out there are 100% determined to make sure every trans person is exactly as panicked as they are in a way that’s not additive or informative & i’m not sure that’s helpful or what solidarity looks like.

If trump was truly dear leader he could have had the CIA make a new set of epstine files by now. I doubt they would have accidentally left the metadata in those videos either.

This is, incidentally, why fiction works. If something seems to be talking to us our brains REALLY want to believe it’s a person.
A major danger of LLMs is that humans are SO predisposed to attribute knowledge to any entity that uses natural language fluently. We cannot imagine that a machine that outputs natural-seeming speech/text doesn't have cognition. Brilliantly articulated by @emilymbender.bsky.social et al. (2021).
