Some might say you create “an island of strangers” by creating a ‘them an us’ between migrants and everyone else. By making it harder for them to feel welcome and be British. By not telling the truth about our ageing population and our desperate need for more migrants and our dependence on them.

The mantra that the NHS just needs to cut “bureaucracy” to spend more on “frontline staff” is so unthinking. There will need to be extra investment in management/admin (eg new IT) in order to increase productivity.
