People from outside Ireland occasionally ask me, "Why is Bono, an international music titan from Ireland, not all that loved in Ireland?". The answer in its entirety is a complex one, but "He sent Dolly Parton a birthday cake and put his own name on it" goes a long way to summing it up.

Confiscating jewellery from survivors of a war zone makes you look like a fucking Nazi. And the obscene thing is, that is the intention. It's there to look appropriately harsh. Indecent. Filthy. A moral stain. And no-one of good character would have ever proposed such a thing in the first place.

Bingo!
The clever thing about going for stuff like the cycle for work scheme is it’s really noticeable, affects people with lots of media access and platforms, annoys green groups, and raises almost no revenue at the same time. Real win/win/win there.

I just switched to Qobuz for music. Better quality, cheaper, pay musicians more. Oh, and their top guy doesn't invest in AI weapons systems either. #DitchSpotify

Country Roads. Every version but a special mention for John Denver. Soul shriveling drivel.
Fuck your favourite song. Tell me your least favourite song. The one that makes you die inside the moment you hear the first 3 seconds.

England have lost 5 wickets, 4 to a bowler called Deep. They are in some sort of trouble. If only I could find the right adjective. #cricket

Oh, this is wonderful!
In amongst all the excitement I fear many have missed this outstanding bit of trolling by Friedrich Merz.

The Chancellor gifted Trump a gilded framed copy of his grandfather’s German birth certificate... reminding Americans that Trump is both the child and grandchild of migrants.

There is no point in complaining if you lose. It lacks class and changes nothing.
Pep Guardiola telling Dean Henderson, "It's not Fair...."

Well Pep you know what else isn't fair???

Bravo.
I am proud of what immigrants like my mum and those across Luton North have given to our country. Many serve in our NHS, open biz, enrich culture/arts & much more.

The best way to avoid becoming an ‘island of strangers’ is investing in communities to thrive - not pitting people against each other.

This is a good summary of Labour's lose- lose strategy.
Labour likely to take a total drubbing in today’s election & it’s fully deserved.

The lesson I fear they’ll fail to learn is:
You cannot win on anti-migrant hatred.
The right wing press will never tell their voters you have done enough.
And meanwhile, of course, you lose all the rest of us #r4today

Britain's 177 billionaires sit on £965 bn - more EACH than the average Brit will earn in 1000 lifetimes.

So obviously, Labour decided NOT to have a 2% wealth tax on this obscene, unspendable hoarding. More poverty for 6.9m disabled Britons is their solution.
