Setting aside the dog-whistle racism, no wonder we're an island of strangers when our neighbours work multiple jobs at all hours; are forced to move after six months 'cause t'landlord continually jacks the rent up; and can't meet up 'cause our pubs/venues are shutting due to grasping pubcos etc etc.

my own 'concern about immigration' has always felt a bit like 'why exactly is concern about immigration such a constant topic?' and this is helpful, the constant and unending noise about it is disquieting
We make it so that any issue simply requires enough press time and "reasonable concerns' that the injustifiable becomes justified.

Right now in the UK being an ally or comrade to trans people will mean being willing to challenge and upset various people in your workplace, your sports club, the various institutions you are part of. Despairing or posting solidarity on social media won't help without also doing the hard stuff.

As Keir Starmer does a “trans women are men” media tour today, I hope people think about that time he invoked the memory of Brianna Ghey in Parliament as part of a gotcha for Rishi Sunak. Abusing her memory for PR whilst plotting to remove the rights she would’ve had to live as herself. He’s sick.
