Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

Wherever people are, in the deepest part of the winter, at the exact midpoint, everybody stops, and turns, and hugs, as if to say, 'Well done. Well done, everyone! We're halfway out of the dark!'

When the past is unremembered, austerity is forever.
Intro: No one should be surprised when Rachel Reeves’ Budget, tabled tomorrow for a Starmer austerity government, makes life harder for Britain’s ordinary residents.

The US/Trump threat to Canada has always been political, not economic. Tariffs are the symptom, not the disease. Unless Carney acts accordingly, we’re going to end up with a trade agreement that *seems* to protect Canadian interests while hollowing out our social, democratic core.
Peace in our time.
Trump’s proposed tariffs against Canada and Mexico may be illegal, but that’s not the real problem
Amid Donald Trump’s latest tariff threat, Canada should be asking how a liberal-democratic nation survives next to a much more powerful country with no respect for the rule of law.

Meanwhile, men of colour with loving wives and children are gunned down by police, killed by ICE raids, die from medical neglect and that never gets mentioned.

Please give if you can. This is a story that needs to be told and it would be tragic to see it lost to the same things it's meant to warn us against.

I’ve lived with my dad’s unfinished work, The Green & Pleasant Land, for 2 years. It’s complete, aside from minor edits. Letting it go will be hard, b/c this story has lived in my head since I was 7 — when my dad 1st began telling me stories about his youth.
