Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

Blatant open corruption, and this isn't even the most egregious example.
The company brought Junior in right after the election as part owner. They just won the largest drone motor contract awarded by the Pentagon.

The president of the United States posted a video of him defecating on the American people. Many in my profession normalized it. This is a big reason why we are where we are.

This is a huge win for working people. With the state of the federal government, we need states to support organized labor.

I am once again calling on state governors to mobilize their National Guards to escort congressmembers into ICE facilities so they can DO THEIR LAWFULLY ASSIGNED FEDERAL DUTIES
Federal agents are overtly abusing their power to try to intimidate advocates and elected officials. We need ICE out of Illinois immediately and justice for people like Ald. Jessie Fuentes who are defending their communities.

A bus of Bronx middle schoolers pulled up to the Capitol this morning for a long-planned field trip just a few hours after the government shut down.

All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides can’t work in shutdown.

So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!

I was lucky enough to attend a Planned Parenthood event last night and folks, it is *critically* important we keep the organization afloat.

Federal money *never* went towards abortions, it helped fund cancer screenings, STI detection, reproductive health, and so much more.

PP is a vital resource.
New: Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast will shutter its two Louisiana clinics and exit the state.

The clinics have never provided abortions—the state wouldn't grant licenses—and affiliate's Texas clinics haven't offered abortion since 2022, so "defund" bill doesn't affect PPGC. @nolanews.bsky.social

I just finished the Hyperion series by Dan Simmons. The first book was an absolute masterpiece. The middle of the series had its ups and downs and took a while to get through. The ending was phenomenal. All in all its a good series that explored some unique takes on bioengineering / human evolution.

Vaccines not only save lives, they save money.

Paying a hospital bill for what should have been an avoidable illness could bankrupt families and cost the government billions.

Vaccines work and are a cost-effective investment.
