I have used gpts to do code monkey work, parse some text, give me the result, or find the number of 4 day weeks between date 1 and date 2.

Even that, it turns out, isn't reliable. I know, I know: what's the point? The point is that devs entirely relying are…fucked.
8 screenshots of different GPTs answering the same question. They've all been given a file and asked: "parse these strings, splitting on `with $n lessons` where $n is the number I want. Add up all the numbers and give me the sum. Just give me that, nothing else.". All of them have different answers, giving wildly different numbers, which raises the question: which, if any, are right?

Revenue at Duolingo in 2024 was up 41% on 23 to $748M. Net income was up by 451% for same period and yet they're firing workers. We've long been at "insatiable greed" point of late stage capitalism. People may feel helpless but there's a very easy way to kick companies like this. Delete their apps.

I have completely deleted my Duolingo. I was informed by one of my kids that the company has removed most of its employees and 70% of the company is run by AI.

I urge everyone to delete their app.
