One "last minute" bag of groceries before Xmas -- stuff like butter, milk, aluminum foil, etc -- cost me $55 today. Prices aren't going down & every single person who's shopped for anything this month knows it.

Juries, and by extension the concept of jury nullification, are the required openness that the laws of incompleteness require.

No formal system, of which the justice system is an example, is both complete and consistent. The jury is the outside perspective required by physics.

Lemme 'splain sonething to you about Donald J. Trump:

He learned from Roy Cohn: you are NEVER wrong; you NEVER make mistakes or give up; you NEVER accept defeat; you lie as needed and if you are then confronted with a tsunami of Reality, you. do. not. budge.

He's not finished with Tish.

Hypocrisy is the Republican Superpower. That brazen ability, unavailable to those of conscience or integrity, to say or do something entirely contradicted by objective facts or their own previous pronouncements. To say or do anything for immediate, short term, political gain.

Am I correct in that this is just legalized gambling on random shit?

And their pitch to the rich people is “if world events don’t work out for you, you can try to gamble on the opposite outcome on our platform”

Do I have that right?

Wtf is wrong rich people..?

I'd like to know how much all these DOJ revenge operations against Trump's perceived enemies are costing US taxpayers. It's like Trump now has a blank check for legal staff to pursue his lifelong hobby of harassing people with lawsuits. www.politico.com/news/2025/12...
DOJ deciding whether to seek new Comey, James indictments
The department could forgo an appeal of Lindsey Halligan’s disqualification and instead seek to bring new charges against James Comey and Letitia James.

No bailouts. The US should extort these companies when the crash happens so they get minimal compensation in return for nationalizing the entire panopticon industry and then destroying it once harvested for socially useful parts. It won’t happen but it should

What will we learn from the Trump years? I'm looking at you Democrats, journalists, lawyers, academics, & businessmen. The blurry storm of everyday idiocy, greed & cruelty warps our ability to think clearly about anything, even the best of us. And it's not the best of us who need to learn the most.

Stabilizing the Earth system remains scientifically possible. History demands a turning point. But that would require some paradigm shifts in our thinking about economics, growth, international politics, etc. Won't happen in time. No way.

President Zelenskyy came to the White House, looking for help from his longstanding ally.

He was ambushed, humiliated and berated for not being grateful enough.

Prince Bone Saw bin 9/11 came to the White House, for the first time since he ordered the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

He was revered.

The latest Cloudflare and Amazon outages have got me thinking about utilities. We can't build modern software without dependencies. The days of running entirely on the client are over, which I see as a good thing. The cost is that we rely on infrastructure.

The more I think about the end of the US penny coin, the more I think it's just another short-sighted Trumpism. So what if a penny costs more than $.01 to make? The government does many things for reasons other than bottom line cost effectiveness, & specious ideas about "waste" have destroyed
