All violence, all injustice, all oppression is interlinked. How we treat nonhuman animals sets the lower boundary for how we treat each other. The more cruelly we treat non-humans, the more terrible a weapon dehumanization is.

What happened to anything like empathy, kindness, even just a basic level of decency? All around us there is violence, suffering and death - of both people and animals and some people still want to add more, for fun! As if it’s not enough. I can’t deal with this place anymore. It’s insane.

Part of being vegan for me is not just looking after the hens and dogs here. It’s about giving nature a place to thrive too. There are no weeds here, only beautiful wild flowers. There is life, vibrancy, insects, birds and mammals. Wildness is beautiful.

Violence is intrinsic to, & inseparable from any form of exploitation of fellow animals. The issue isn’t the extent to which they suffer whilst being violently exploited & killed, nor is it how comfortable we are with their suffering, the issue is they’re being violently exploited & killed.
