“Animals are friends, not food”. It’s such a vacuous, patronising, empty cliche. It’s embarrassing. An individual who is subjected violent oppression doesn’t need to be a friend or in any way instrumental to me before I’m willing to fight for them.

It's revealing how those who supposedly champion "worker's rights" and "dignity for all" ignore the people working in this industry and the staggering rates of suicide and PTSD in a workforce largely made up of exploited immigrants and refugees.
