I write about marketing and things I notice about people. Sometimes it upsets said people.
I'm tired of the overused "character knowingly withholds crucial info from other characters just for funsies" trope. I'm a little upset they opted in for it in #SeveranceSeason2.

It wouldn't make the character less powerful, and it'd still make an interesting plot.

I've been so useless all day. At this point in my life where I work 5 days a week and dissociate on Saturday.

Most Viral Marketing Campaigns 👇

As every company is figuring out how to fake their UGC content with AI, make their ads with AI, and AI AI with AI,

here are some of my favourite interactive marketing campaigns ever that make me excited to work in my industry—

What's with the pressure to be a good person?

"If you were a good person, you'd use paper straws over plastic"
"If you were, you'd know ppl with disabilities cannot use paper straws"

The church doesn't watch you anymore, so y'all watch each other like hawks & public shame. Wild

I know it sounds like a cheesy aphorism, but this is your reminder that people who never make mistakes or get embarrassed in public are people who don't do shit.

Yeah, you can get canceled over a mistake too.

But at least you're doing enough with your life for people to notice.

When I'm in the follicular phase...

Sure. Let's brainstorm, sweat creativity, strategize big brand shifts, jump around the office like a happy chipmunk and be a “rockstar employee” (ew).

But when I'm in the luteal phase...

WFH and leave me the fuck alone #corporate

the existence of female "icks" like "he jumped over the puddle" and "he tied his shoe" makes me wonder if female gaze can sometimes be as toxic for men as male gaze is for women

We spend way too much time on social media and not enough time reading.

Imagine thinking that your generation invented "not putting a label on things" and inventing all sorts of dating theories around it, and then picking up "Anna Karenina" (Tolstoy) written in late 1800s.

There are two ways to care about your appearance:

1. In a hot way
2. In a sad way

Hot way - you take care of your hair, nails, and skin. You clean up nicely. You shape your beard and style your clothes.

Sad way - 👇

I understood the point of colour analysis. It’s not that I can’t pull off warm red or light green (I can)—but I have to make an effort to do so.

Vs with my colours—bright blue, dark green—I will look rather “clean,” not “tired,” if I wear no makeup.

Definitely need a deep green hoodie on days when I’m tired of it all

Speaking of #consumerbehavior… if you have a crazy expensive gym, it has to be:

✨pretty
🧼 clean
💆‍♀️ have all the extra features
🗣️ have plenty of networking opportunities.

Having a “pls be quiet in the sauna” sticker on the door, no running clubs, no mixers? I disapprove.
I’m happy to report that I tried “investing in myself” and “putting myself in successful environment” and I did not miraculously make more money. You’re welcome.

Just quit the obnoxiously expensive gym where no one ever talked to each other 🤷🏼‍♀️ then what’s the point lol

Big fan of this podcast episode and @alimattu.bsky.social recommending to keep your identity small and not define yourself by your job, your skills, your family role.

I would add—by your political party. You’re more resilient & it allows you to get the best deal.

During the war, the government would manipulate people into dehumanizing the enemy to the point when they’re a caricature to you. Makes it easier to kill.

The politicians do the same during elections. You seeing the opposite party supporters as mortal enemies helps the government, not you.

Excuse me while I sob hysterically. My 15yo has been working since July on her year-long school project, and she chose to hand-paint, write, and print a cookbook of family recipes. It's so beautiful. Welcome to the author club, kiddo 💗

#crosspromotion #marketing saw an intriguing collab the other day. A real estate agent partnered up with my gym. 1-year contract at my gym costs ~$860. I assume, this is what Alina pays the gym for each client.

Looks like a high cost per acquisition for Alina the Realtor. But if she… 👇

Remember Chachi’s? I found their fashion brother, Reigning Champ. No photos on the walls. No mannequins. Just white tile. But does it sell?

They’re buried in other Aritzia companies in the annual report, can’t check. But I would assume Aritzia marketers know what they’re doing.

AI is just a ghostwriter.

Alexandre Dumas used ghostwriters all the time, for "The Three Musketeers," too. One of his ghostwriters sued him, hoping to get partial authorship, but Dumas proved that he mostly did the prep.

Now we all can all afford a ghostwriter to do the prep.
