I write about marketing and things I notice about people. Sometimes it upsets said people.
I've been so useless all day. At this point in my life where I work 5 days a week and dissociate on Saturday.

5. Last one! I mean, these guerilla marketing campaigns probably weren't too expensive for Nike... were they?

Anything weird or funny that people see in real life has a chance to go viral since everyone is ready to whip out their phones any minute these days.

2. Can't forget Duolingo. They're brilliant for leaning into the joke about the app sending notifications too often and how it makes users feel watched.

Now Duo has one of the strongest mascots on earth - the one of the blood-thirsty unhinged owl.

(too scared to tag them)

1. Sometimes to think outside the box, you need to bring the glass box to the NYC Grand Central Terminal.

The new season of Severance is coming out on
AppleTV today!

I LOVE a good interactive TV show/film promo, and just watching this made me giddy:

We spend way too much time on social media and not enough time reading.

Imagine thinking that your generation invented "not putting a label on things" and inventing all sorts of dating theories around it, and then picking up "Anna Karenina" (Tolstoy) written in late 1800s.

I understood the point of colour analysis. It’s not that I can’t pull off warm red or light green (I can)—but I have to make an effort to do so.

Vs with my colours—bright blue, dark green—I will look rather “clean,” not “tired,” if I wear no makeup.

Definitely need a deep green hoodie on days when I’m tired of it all

#crosspromotion #marketing saw an intriguing collab the other day. A real estate agent partnered up with my gym. 1-year contract at my gym costs ~$860. I assume, this is what Alina pays the gym for each client.

Looks like a high cost per acquisition for Alina the Realtor. But if she… 👇

Remember Chachi’s? I found their fashion brother, Reigning Champ. No photos on the walls. No mannequins. Just white tile. But does it sell?

They’re buried in other Aritzia companies in the annual report, can’t check. But I would assume Aritzia marketers know what they’re doing.

…that having pictures of food on menus/delivery apps increases orders. Why would offline be any different?

Btw, that Chachi’s spot is now closed. I don’t know why, but I don’t think they chose a good place for their brand to shine.

What could they do differently? 👇

#branding thread: I spotted this brand on a food court in Vancouver (BC) and couldn’t for the life of me figure out what they offered. A plate? A bowl? A wrap?

I now see it says “Sandwiches” in dark red on top of the menu, but back then I didn’t notice and asked the employee—

(1/2) The saddest scene in #TheSubstance is when she doesn't show up to see a man who thinks she's "still the most beautiful girl in the whole world." She gets so caught up in her self-hatred and insecurities, that it doesn't matter to her that she's still objectively hot.

well that and that they shot a scene for “Red” with Bruce Willis in #Toronto Reference Library. I guess the libraries are the best thing about Toronto

“Little black dress” is a marketing ploy.

Black colour does NOT fit every skin type, it’s not a “basic” colour. Everyone has their own basic colours: between black and brown, brown doesn’t wash me out as much.
