Voracious reader of 19th century novels, Jane Austen addict, and unapologetically appreciative of a great bodice ripping romance. Working on my first romance manuscript.
Reading this gem while snowbound. With such detail and written with a humorous bent, it's the perfect reference for writers who've based their books during that era.

Absolutely agree! My mental health is a lot better as well when I spend time with friends and family off of the internet. We are huge fans of the boardgame Clue and can get pretty competitive. Lol.
I adore the Internet but cannot emphasize enough that if you’re able to see people in person, that is the way - even if your space is small or cluttered. Have people over for snacks, movies, board games, whatever. Part of being free is having interactions that aren’t surveilled and/or documented.

Following a week of big emotions, I declare a celebration of a part of your brain that's been on overdrive but you've barely heard of: the Insula!

My Sweet Pea. Nearly succumbed to fading cat syndrome when she was only a few weeks old. She's a fighter and when not swatting away her fellow rescues, she is only content when alone with me. #proofofcat #cats

Here's an article I wrote last year about the role of fertility rituals in folk horror and how that might resonate with contemporary concerns over the erosion of reproductive rights. Since I wrote this, I've come across more films that might better demonstrate my point. Maybe I'll update one day.

I’ll never tire of repeating my belief that public libraries can embody the democratic ideal more broadly and fully than any other public institution. When a kid gets a library card, they receive civic standing. Crucially, in my network, full patron privacy. Help us defend this. 📚
I’m a public librarian in a degenerating democracy, and I am pleading: Care about your library. Use it. See what programs and events it offers. And pay attention to its governing body. See who the trustees are. Consider running yourself. Libraries will need all the community support they can get. 📚
