My family moved to London summer 1973. Opening day offered Arsenal-Man United. I stood front row at midfield East Lower, limited view of West touchline. Great view of pitch invasion of North Bank by Utd hooligans at halftime. Arsenal won the game, hooray hooray. Allegiances set in stone that day.

I've got a study for that! When the Cowboys left Irving, the city's sales tax rev increased. Arlington's sales tax rev from sports increased too but it was offset almost entirely by sales tax rev loss in retail biz. Intra-metro sub effects, folks.

Under pending new college sports rules, an offensive lineman could receive $1 million in revenue sharing with no scrutiny.

But a $1M deal from a booster collective to a softball player or wrestler will be examined and possibly nixed.

Amazing stuff again! Arsenal deserved to win both legs of this quarter-final, Saka's goal brilliant, and Madrid only scored because of a mistake you'll probably never see Saliba make again in his career.

5-1 on aggregate, Rice superb over both games, but a hugely impressive collective effort too.🔥

In case you’ve not read it yet, this by @jonathanliew.bsky.social for @theguardian.com on the myth of Manchester United’s new stadium - and new stadiums in general - is really, really good.

Many economists are getting asked:

How do we know that Americans lose out when a US President slaps large taxes on Americans who buy imports?

The best one-stop source I know of is my @piie.com colleague @douglasirwin.bsky.social ‘s book. Classic and updated.

Pricing access is having an effect
this is incredible stuff. most state DOTs would spend tens of billions on highway expansions to try and see numbers like this (that wouldn’t even pan out anyway thanks to induced demand lol)
