ah yes, the old "good cop, fascist" routine
if you could keep Mamdani around the White House to talk to him all day you could probably get him to do a bunch of good shit, the problem is that after this meeting the next guy in the room is Stephen Miller

Reminder: We spent YEARS reading thousands and thousands of articles on the Tea Party and how it was a true expression of the American people's will, and it never mounted anything nearly as big as Saturday's No Kings rallies. [1/3]

Should I be concerned?

What’s so annoying is that, instead of celebrating a woman who has been a tireless advocate for democratic ideals in Venezuela, we’ll be analyzing the rantings of a petulant man who is trying to destroy those ideals.

It is patently absurd that we laud tech leaders while they’re actively capitulating to Trump with no questions asked

Pure cowardice

Many people and institutions that fight back are winning.

This is a large part of the reason to scorn the people and institutions that have caved. When this is over their lives should be made miserable. More, I mean.
Kimmel won. Winning matters, wins are how we’re going to prevent this autocratic slide.

I stopped paying attention to SF politics after the Chesa recall. I figured they would eventually get back to normalcy, somehow.

But now I found out that they recalled ANOTHER elected official? What a goofy place.
San Francisco's tech billionaires weaponized recall elections against their opponents.

Now, the chickens come home to roost.

Joel Engardio recalled: Now anyone can be recalled by everyone
The billionaires' political weapon, the recall, has slipped out of their hands — and into everyone else's. Buckle up.

The news out of DC is consistently awful but it’s still kind of amusing to see all these tough guy members of Congress lining up in front of the cameras to say things like, “I can’t step outside the Rayburn Building when I’m here because if I hear rap music I’ll shit myself.”

it cannot be overemphasized that many SF & CA Democratic politicians did everything they could to pour gasoline on this fire, including encouraging SCOTUS to criminalize unsheltered homelessness for the entire nation. as with Gaza & university crackdowns, they blazed Trump’s trail for him.
A common thread of seemingly disparate MAGA policies, including some of the latest policing moves, is that big Dem-run cities are violent hellholes incapable of self-government that threaten to outvote real American patriots, and need to be taken over whatever their voters may think about that.
It's AMERICANA time.

The opening column is about the point of three interlocking projects: Mid-district gerrymander, VRA lawsuit, attempt to re-do census. It's about reducing the political power of urban Democrats, for their own good.

There are two groups of people completely out of touch with reality: tech leaders and democratic consultants
this sounds insane on its face? voters do not closely follow legislation and policy but they are very aware of the image and vibes of the elected officials. if voters say “we think they are nerds who won’t stand up for themselves” that’s almost certainly what they mean
And we know the centrist consultants favored by D leadership say this b/c @elainegodfrey.bsky.social quoted one.

Swing voters say “Dems don’t fight.”

This consultant argues it’s not REALLY about fight, it’s abt something else!! That’s hooey. But the leadership likes it: it supports the status quo.

Anyone who has followed Kristi Noem’s engagement with tribal communities in South Dakota would know she’d stoop this low.

Let’s just hope someone has the gumption to indict her after she leaves DHS.
If confirmed, this would represent a version of Charlottesville, but where government officials are the ones driving into protestors
