Seen a few folks astonished by my lack of support for ChatGPT and similar. Because AI, right?

Yeah, no. What we have right now is glorified autocorrect. Glorified autocorrect that takes the energy of an entire city to do what it does, plus half of Lake Erie to cool down while it's doing it.

ADHD requires meds that are hard to get if you have ADHD.

Making them a controlled substance (no delivery, no one can help pick them up, only one month at a time) is debilitating.

Addiction is bad, yes, but under-medicating people has consequences too. (Ex increased traffic accidents)

Just a reminder to all the new folks that Neil Gaiman has been credibly accused of sexual assault by five different women, and is almost certainly working behind the scenes with his PR firm to bury the story.

Don’t let him. And don’t follow him. More here:

Hello new faces and old!

I'm Shane and I write fantasy fic that pivots around magic, monsters, and messy characters.

I have flash fiction forthcoming from Shacklebound Books and I'm currently working on my debut novel!

Would you please share to help me find like-minded friends?

5. I believe people can write outside our identities, but if your character is marginalized in ways you aren't:

a. Do you think you're being noble? If yes, stop
b. Do you understand specifics? E.g. not just Indian but Gujarati? If no, stop
c. Do you have CLOSE friends from this group? If no, stop

So, time for not-election stuff: It's Native American Heritage Month and I'll be looking to share and reskeet any and all Indigenous creators I can find.

I'd also like fellow artists and writers to share their Native OC's! Let's get this goin'!

I'm researching an article for Writer Beware on editing service Edioak and their new House of Pages promo venture, for which they seem to be soliciting a lot of authors. If they contacted you, I'd be interested in seeing what they sent. My email is beware@sfwa.org . Thanks!!

I know it from being queer and trans, not Black, but... it sucks when the only / most common time your work is noticed is when someone else pisses people off enough that they are virtuously looking for a deserving target of their attention for the next 5 mins.

We could, you know, build more public transport.
ten years have passed and we’re still being sold the fantasy of self-driving cars instead of getting on with building far better transit and bike lanes. i’m so tired of it all.

Coming to the heart of this thread now: I cannot but help feel that the reason that these strategies proved so successful in this case was because they offered to people a very easy way of assuaging their guilt, without requiring them to make the effort of actually redistributing power.

We don't want support withdrawn from BIPOC writers, particularly other writers from the same demographic as retribution and punishment.

Please uplift and support writers from African countries. There are many writers living there who are doing incredible work!

That's all I got.
