The way identity politics and decolonisation arguments have been weaponised by some Western orgs/institutions has reproduced similar power structures that these ideologies sought to dismantle. And it is horrible for researchers like me who freely talk about our research to all and sundry and

I cannot emphasize enough how true & real this is.

In almost anywhere on the political spectrum you ID with or major issue, there’s probably a bot/troll operation to encourage your rage and vitriol.

And how/where that rage gets directed, esp understandable rage, is what they are out to influence.
People on this app get really angry every time I point out that social media manipulation is a real phenomenon that we are all stewing in and that’s having real world consequences and I’m sure part of that is engagement farmers who do that manipulation not liking people talking about it

Day 635 of genocide
Dear friends, we’re packing our things as we prepare to move to the apartment in Deir al-Balah. Transportation costs are high, most drivers ask for at least $300. I know it’s a lot,but I trust you won’t leave me.
With your help,I can cover the cost of the move❤️

Not citing my work on an article on Facial Recognition+Delhi Police, in 2025, is just bad research. Girl, go redo your literature review (this rhymes!)

The Shompen, one of the world’s most isolated tribes, face extinction as India plans to turn their tiny Great Nicobar island into a “Hong Kong” — with ports, airports, and a city for 650,000 people. Their rainforest home will be destroyed. This must be stopped. #SaveShompen

The United Nations' food stocks for families in Gaza depleted a week ago. Children are being deliberately starved by Israel, and it is all being done openly.
Since the 2nd of March, Israel has been preventing food from entering the Gaza Strip.

A new report found that Elon Musk faced at least $2.37 billion in potential legal liability from 11 federal agencies on inauguration day.

Many are now on DOGE's chopping block or have dropped their investigations into Musk's corporations.

"Conflict of interest" is an understatement.

If we are still imposing unhealthy deadlines and demanding exceptional work without accepting the need for piecemeal improvements, time and energy commitment to make something better, slow results we do not have the moral right to criticise when people use AI
April 23, 2025 at 8:11 AM
The idea is not to ask people to not use AI (without results) but to ask why do we live in a society which needs to use tools such as ChatGPT for their everyday work? Why do we reward fast work over good work? Why do we have unhealthy deadlines? Why do we aspire to be superhumans?

Looking for funding to set up a tech policy research lab in India which looks at policy sociologically+anthropologically without resorting to only legal analysis which is severely limiting esp in the Indian context. HMU with places/people I could contact. Thank you!
