It has taken me a long time but I have finally published my second book through Amazon KDP.
Yay, me!
It is an English school story set in 1959.
Why a school story? Because I grew up on them & wondered how a brown child would fare in that setting.

oh for real?
The US immigrant population generated more in taxes than they received in benefits from all levels of government every year from 1994 to 2023.

The Cato study provides the first-ever 30-year analysis of the fiscal effects of immigration on government budgets.

Services currently available to people in #Gaza fall far short of what is needed, largely due to the destruction of the health system and restrictions imposed by Israel.

Now more than ever, Palestinians need more services, not less. Providing humanitarian assistance in Gaza is vital.

What does #ElFasher look like after months of siege? MSF was recently granted access to visit the city, the capital of #Sudan’s North Darfur state.

Our teams saw destroyed neighbourhoods, emptied communities and a city that now resembles a ghost town: https://ow.ly/xAu650Y7RHT

liberals have orders of magnitude more people, financial resources, and institutional support than anarchists do in this particular part of the world and this particular part of the world still looks like what it looks like, maybe chill out a little
i don't particularly disagree with a lot of the critiques of anarchist activism by liberals but I bristle when they act as if their best practices are any wiser. we're here because none of us figured out how to avoid being here.

everyone should have some goddamn humility.

I think one thing people outside Minnesota don't understand is that after Good and Pretti were killed by feds while observing, the most normal people you could imagine have made peace with the fact that they could be next, and they are still out there because they say it's the right thing to do.
“If I am killed doing this, throw my body at the White House, martyr the shit out of me & raise hell. Do not be sad. Do not think I would do anything differently. I would do it over & over again — this is too important to sit down & shut up and not do anything.” www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

“It is clear that the current administration’s actions, along with congressional inaction, have increased costs for farm inputs, disrupted overseas and domestic markets, denied agriculture its reliable labor pool, and defunded critical ag research and staffing.”

So, my takeaway: fear works best when it scales cleanly and quietly. Minneapolis shows what happens when it doesn’t. When people show up for each other, document, organize, and refuse isolation, intimidation loses power. That kind of resistance is hard to suppress, and we need it to travel. (9/9)

At the same time, community resistance is proving harder to neutralize. It adapts quickly, spreads socially, and shows up wherever pressure is applied. You can deploy fear in one place. You can’t easily replicate the response everywhere. (6/9)

Minneapolis demonstrates the opposite dynamic. Once people see others willing to show up publicly, suppression stops looking inevitable and starts looking brittle. Every additional observer, protester, medic, lawyer, or neighbor lowers the return on intimidation. (4/9)

That kind of response matters because fear depends on scale and silence. It depends on people believing they’re alone, and that resistance will be met with no backup and no witnesses. (3/9)

Movements for political change usually take place with MUCH less popular support.

In before times, a POTUS would shift course.

In this one, we have to keep the pressure on to try to push @schumer.senate.gov et al to use overwhelming popular sentiment as a fulcrum in their DHS funding negotiations.
These numbers are simply incredible. It's very clear that most ordinary people have figured out that ICE is not remotely functioning as a law enforcement agency any longer and that none of this is about enforcing the law in any recognizable sense.

i know that this is an unpopular take, but everyone starting their own newsletter as a revenue stream is not a sustainable model for writing and reporting or for people who love and want to pay for media.
A lot of people cannot just start a paid newsletter or become freelancers to sustain their careers. The sports, metro, and international desks did work that requires *team* resources, like legal checks, documents, access to archives, and long-term beat experience.

Also, this is AEW, which is known to have a more progressive bent than WWE. Part of the reason they're chanting that is because Brody King (the big guy there) wore an Abolish ICE shirt when they did a show in Mexico, and has done events and exclusive merch to raise money to help ICE victims.
