@jvl.bsky.social the "declaring victory" footnote in today's Triad just made me laugh out loud. Great read top to bottom and I sent it along to some family members, including my adult son. Hang in there through all the changes.

As predicted, women in New Hampshire had a hard time voting yesterday because of the new proof of citizenship law:

“It doesn’t have my married name on it,” she said. Town voting officials then sent her away a second time, to get her marriage certificate.

NH’s new ID requirements send some would-be voters home to grab passports, birth certificates
The law requires all new voters to show proof of their U.S. citizenship. For some, that meant making multiple trips to and from the polls before finally casting a ballot on Tuesday.

I don't want to make a huge thing of it, but today is the 10yr anniversary of my dx of pulmonary hypertension. It's a condition that only ends in one way, but that's true of the human condition in general, so for now I'm happy I'm beating expectations. Thanks to my fam & friends who keep me going

Texans & other concerned folks: you can get a titer test to see if your childhood MMR vaccine is still protecting you from measles. I did it in 2019, had no measurable antibodies, so I got an MMR shot. Told friends & same story with them. *I'm not a doctor* but might be worth mentioning to yours!

Sorry, but how is Landman an 8.3 on IMDb? Every female character but one is only there to look hot - way different than Sheridan's show Lioness, which has more depth. The plot & dialogue are also fairly lazy outside of a few very pointed monologues. Billy Bob does a pretty great job, I will say.

Probably futile but I wrote to both my senators and my (wonderful) US Rep today urging them not to adjourn the Senate early to allow recess appointments. I'm sure it will change nothing but I felt compelled to get my request on record

Two years in and after growing back from the roots after a freeze, this is the first blooming bract from my bougainvillea. Poor lil guy can barely see the sun thanks to the oaks, but I love how it stretches hopefully toward light.

Same, boug. Same.

The only possible glimmer of an upside I can think of tonight is that in the end, Trump fires just about everyone. He's plucked people like Gaetz and others from Congress, and once he dumps them they'll be temporarily without public office.

I know everyone says this, but the amount of STUFF libraries have available digitally is just breathtaking. My library system here in Baton Rouge has thousands of Udemy courses available. And they're free! They're so free.

Libraries are cool. Librarians are cool. Support your libraries.

My first post here might as well be about the little tyrant holding us hostage this summer. We've had three dog-skunking incidents this summer - three!. We finally got a good look at the culprit and dangit he's cute.
