@tef.bsky.social is 100% right here. if it breaks in CI it needs to break on the developer’s machine, and as early as possible. on-save for linters is good. post-push-after-waiting-for-CI-to-set-up is bad. be good, not bad
if it's that important, your build scripts should be breaking

if it's part of the ci / test, it's where the worst people you nkow have set up the defaults, they're terrible, and all the code is now filled with // lint:ignore around "calling await in a loop"

In 1968, 13-year-old Mary Beth Tinker was suspended from school for wearing a black armband to protest the Vietnam War.

We took her case all the way to the Supreme Court, which ruled in favor of Mary Beth and students’ right to free speech 56 years ago today.

Wikipedia is the last major, visible platform for facts that they can’t buy. The attacks are going to be merciless.
Scoop: I obtained a confidential presentation outlining how a major conservative think tanks plans to go after volunteer editors on Wikipedia who it says are "abusing their position" and promoting antisemitism

I am an enormous Simon Willison fanboy and always will be.
Simon Willison genuinely inspires me—his method of learning is creative, persistent, and dedicated to sharing. His LLM year in review is a great example of talking about a burgeoning field in a thoughtful, low-hype, high-value way.
Things we learned about LLMs in 2024
A lot has happened in the world of Large Language Models over the course of 2024. Here’s a review of things we figured out about the field in the past …

Conservatives don't give a fuck about hypocrisy. All that's happening is it sounds like you're saying it's bad to be queer, and actual queer people hear you saying it

You still have people saying, "I don't see any evidence that Musk is a neo-Nazi." And it's like, I can't know what's in his heart, but he follows them on Twitter, retweets them, promotes their conspiracy theories, parrots their rhetoric, and now recommends their party for Germany. But who knows?

author of those safety and sandboxing features: are you fucking kidding me?
it's the script. also the fact that they ran the script as pull_request_target, which disables like all the sandboxing/safety features of github actions
