Pinned
I was just asked in an email but to give everyone an idea of my prices...

I digitally color over a scan of the original pencils or inks (inks are preferable for the best results) and then provide a flattened tiff file back for printing, along with a png or jpg for sharing online.

Someone should make a reality show that's just comic book people on dates.

Kirchner’s the Bus is one of the cleverest, ingenious, well drawn, constraint-based comics ever. Check it out if you’ve never seen it!

I have to admit this is pretty cool
You have to find out who stole the blanket, in what part of the neighborhood, and into what shape it was formed (a tent, a "paper" airplane, a football, etc., all represented by game pieces). The board itself is an attractive overhead (presumably non-canon) shot of the gang's stomping grounds.

Oh thank goodness they rolled that back.
Dear SFWA and surrounding industry:

It's a two-mailout kind of day!

Thank you to everyone who wrote in.

The Board wishes to share the results of two votes held this afternoon, with further amendments to our Nebula Awards Rules.

I kinda want this.
Ok so MacFarlane toys does these...deformed? Weird proportion figures? They've done Bane and Batman and Swamp Thing and ... they're not my thing generally but this Darkseid makes me laugh and I love him. Look at his tiny frowny face! He's adorable.

I was interning at Marvel in the 90s when he was doing various work for them (Thor, XSE, Spider-Man Unlimited, etc) and it was an open secret then that he had a whole studio of guys working under him in Brazil. He'd do the big splash pages and his assistants would do everything else.

Hell yeah!!!

Ryan North and Gavin Guidry taking over as the creative team for The Flash

Denys Cowan joining Dan Watters on Nightwing

I'm also really excited about Mayor Poison Ivy, @gwillow.me and the rest of the team have been making an accessible book that deserves to always be in print.

Every statement from this administration about trans people is either an outright lie or yet another plan to make them suffer, all for no reason aside from feeding the fear of bigots.

Remember in the late '90s when the "Mike Deodato" credit could have been any number of like 5 or 6 different people?

Such that it eventually was "Deodato Studios" and we still didn't get any clarification as to who the other people were? (I think we now know & one of them was Ed Benes.)

Yeah...

You can have access or you can be a journalist. You can’t do both. Not indefinitely. The idea that Deodato didn’t use ai in that comic…is not even laughable. It’s an insult. He’s calling you stupid to your face.

Either Deodato is lying, and he used a bunch of generated slop for this book, or he isn't, and he made all of these errors of consistency, posing, etc on his own - and either way, he should be real fucking embarrassed.
Okay yeah, This feels like a mix of AI Slop, Trace Photo Ref, and Actual (mostly rushed) Art, all made to hide the duct tape and glue.

Im kinda mad I backed the Kickstarter, checking that now they REALLLLLLY hid this.

AWA Studios really pocketed 100K in Kickstarter Money and ran with this.

Back in the '90s he rejected accusations of using multiple uncredited artists to draw for him.

But it was true.

So those 5(+?) people started being credited as "Deodato Studios" for another year and a half.

Then he moved on to tracing 3D models.
Mike Deodato Jr. rejects accusations of using AI in AWA’s ULTIMATE OZ

The proliferation of AI slop has created an environment where anybody can accuse any comic creator of using Ai in their work.

"We asked the artist who clearly used AI to create his new graphic novel if he used AI and he said 'nuh-uh' so clearly this is just a witch-hunt."

And people wonder why comics journalism died.

This. Remember... engage with or promote generative AI in your comics practice and you lose our support and coverage. For good. Zero tolerance.
Oh also: the AI stuff…maybe read the room?

Even though you can't really make convincing AI comics (yet), 1/3 of comics creators know or suspect they have lost work to it already. Only 4% of creators use it, and none for final artwork or writing.

We hate that shit.
