Alaska Natives, whose needs that are driven by climate change have never been addressed to the extent necessary, have now been fully abandoned by our government.
Alaska Native villages have few options and little US help as climate change devours their land
Storms that battered Alaska’s western coast this fall have brought renewed attention to low-lying Indigenous villages left increasingly vulnerable by climate change.

KYUK is the only public radio station in remote Alaska that regularly broadcasts in the Yugtun language, providing a crucial lifeline to Indigenous communities in the area.

After Congress slashed its budget, the station isn't sure how it'll survive.

The latest from our friends at @revealnews.org:
In rural America, public radio saves lives
In remote Alaska, public radio station KYUK is crucial during natural disasters. Without federal funding, how will it survive?

Taxation with out representation started the Civil War. Nonetheless I like this approach. Blue States should stop paying taxes because they don’t get much back services. Red States should pay for themselves.

Megyn Kelly claimed Epstein was into “the barely legal type,” referring to 15 year-olds.

So I wrote about how her comments highlight the ways both purity culture and rape culture sexualize young girls and make male desire their responsibility.

The Barely Legal Type: Purity Culture, Rape Culture, and America’s Lose-Lose Proposition for Girls
The very parts of American culture that claim to promote teen abstinence and sexual purity operate on a parallel logic to the rape culture that enables the darkest misogynistic violence against women.

Excellent journalism highlighting how the State of Alaska is failing rural—and predominantly Alaska Native—students.

“over the past 25 years, state officials have largely ignored hundreds of requests by rural school districts to fix the problems that have left public schools across AK crumbling”

Around 70% of the U.S. economy depends on consumer spending. As wealth concentrates in the richest 10%, the rest of America can’t afford to buy enough to keep the economy running.

This is a huge problem — and even America’s most powerful CEOs are starting to sound the alarm.

a PSA: most nonprofit newsrooms right now are probably participating in the NewsMatch program RIGHT NOW. That’s a program funded by a few foundations that “matches” your end-of-year donation.

If you set up $10 monthly, that literally unlocks $120 from NewsMatch.

So who could you support?
i promise i don’t mean to high horse this but if you’re thinking about giving lizza ten bucks there are a lot of good independent journalists whose work you could subscribe to for a month instead

There were no female airline pilots during Duffy's "golden age" because the men in aviation medicine (and it was all men) were so stupid they thought that having a period made you crash.

But hey, female passengers wore skirts so I guess that means it was all good.
As travelers head to the airports this holiday season, the U.S. government wants them to rethink their travel checklists, their behavior — and also, their outfits. It's a part of a new campaign by Sean Duffy, the secretary of transportation, that he called “The Golden Age of Travel Starts With You.”
