A6 Should we assess students - No, there are elements of learning that should just be there, everything should not be assessed, they will learn other skills through play that will help with life. Should we assess ourselves and ensure the the playful learning is working - Yes #SoTL rules #LTHEChat

A6 Hold an international gathering every four years, get students to compete and award trophies or medals. You could call it the World Olympiad Slam Series and publish the results in a league table. #lthechat

A6 All learners self-assess their contributions, and that in itself is a real advantage. #lthechat

Q6 #LTHEchat We can use play to change how students experience assessment. Focusing on what we need students to evidence - skills, or knowledge, we can use playful approaches in that assessment. Always with an eye to inclusivity though.

A6: Debriefing, reflecting, creating an artefact and sharing it. It can be self-assessment, or you can apply it slowly in more authentic settings and see what caries over. #lthechat

I agree. A quote I keep coming back to is one by Simon Egenfeldt-Nielson a game is just an excuse for a conversation. As Jorge has said elsewhere here ... it's the bit that Carries over elsewhere we can assess. But not the play itself.

A6 I think we should evaluate it, yes. That's a big part of doing #SoTL and being a reflective practitioner #LTGEChat

A6. Student feedback. Depends on topic really as some lend themselves to alignment to assessment. Playful can be used to breakup a ‘heavy’ challenging topic but not directly aligning to any assessment just about an experience. #LTHEchat

A6. Playful learning should be purposive and grounded in learning outcomes which should make it possible to assess how far these have been achieved through effective plenaries as well as student feedback eg clarity points and muddiest points #LTHEchat

Also convincing others to try it even if you have proved it works. As you have said they often feel like you are trying to force a change and so dig their heels in.

A5 Nothing wrong with getting inspiration from somewhere else.
It's about finding something that works for you and your learners and the quest can be just as creative as the innovation. #LTHEchat
