It’s been over five years since I regularly rode the NE corridor to the north of NYC. The coastline scenery remains unparalleled and the accents ah dropping ahs everywheyah.

On HS French exchange trip, student who was notorious for being late was in fact late meeting the bus from the Musée D’Orsay and it meant we couldn’t go up the Eiffel Tower. I was livid, I’ve never forgotten it, and every time I see the Eiffel Tower in a photo I think about it. This was in 1997.
What meaningless thing/experience are you still mad about? Like it should not matter at all, DOES not matter at all. But you’re still MAD.

And how long has it been?

I bought some bagels at Hy-Vee four years ago. So bad. Too big. Hard. Bland. WORTHLESS.

I’m still FURIOUS.

If I were the panty-throwing type, I’d sling ‘em straight at Joshua Henry at the curtain call of Ragtime.

Going to my first Jain prarthna sabha (memorial service) and I’m just so grateful to have a diverse group of friends. I made one phone call and feel way more prepared than an hour’s worth of googling would do.

Hot take: I don’t think baseball should be allowed to be on AppleTV

I had to google two words from this episode of The Gilded Age and I’m not ashamed by that (DEMIMONDAINES and PARVENU). Please keep in mind that I do speak medium French. It did not help.

I went to Rockaway beach yesterday with friends, and took the subway from my apartment on the UWS. Grabbed my backpack beach chair and an ice pack and just trekked out. Each way was about an hour and 40 minutes or so (two train transfers included.) It’s magical that I can get to a beach for $2.90.

The way that I was raised, being Jewish meant believing that every human life was sacred; to save a single human life meant saving all of humanity. That no law or ritual was more important than saving a single human life.

It's unfathomable that any Jew can accept what Israel is doing in Gaza.

Those women love each other and are truly trying to make sure everyone succeeds. You saw it with Sabrina giving half her winnings to Sonia. There are clips of Kelsey Plum in practice giving pointers to Paige Bueckers. Cathy and Adam have no real idea what they’re up against. Peace to the WNBPA.

Mamdani: "I've already had to start get used to the fact that the president will talk about how I look, how I sound, where I'm from, ultimately bc he wants to distract from what I'm fighting for. I'm fighting for the the very working people he ran a campaign to empower that he has since betrayed."

Shabbat Shalom to everyone who recognizes that the safety, freedom & thriving of Jews and Muslims are bound up together — in Israel & Palestine, across the five boroughs, and in many other beloved places.
Lander: "It's just gross, racist bigotry. Meanwhile he's running an optimistic, upbeat campaign for a NY where everybody belongs, and I feel proud as the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in NYC to be supporting somebody who would be the first Muslim mayor—what could be more NYC than that?"

This is what I aspire to live every day.
There really is something special about what Zohran and Brad are showing the rest of the world what it still means to be a New Yorker and an American.

A Jew and a Muslim modeling a politics of mutual respect, rejecting cynicism. Human decency has been taking a beating but she's not out just yet!

the lesson you should draw from the most jewish city in the world putting an israel-skeptic muslim over the top in the mayoral primary is literally the opposite of "anti-semitism is a serious threat to local jews." trust me when i tell you we understand self-interest.

good, i hope they cry a lot. Cuomo has been one of the most hateful, vile figures in politics since he began putting up "VOTE FOR CUOMO, NOT THE HOMO" posters for his dad's campaign
"Andrew Cuomo is visibly upset and people are crying"
