the total lack of interest from business and media elites in defending the liberal norms that underpin civil society and like, modern capitalism for that matter has been truly shocking
we are in really unsettling place that we're facing a deeply unpopular regime that is making everything appreciably worse but the people with the power to stand up to them and takes steps to maintain basic political stability are capitulating without a fight

It goes without saying but it really should be completely illegal for private prisons to exist. It's an insane concept.

People say the brains of children are rotting but I was playing Fortnite with two of my younger kids and when I yelled "whoop whoop" they both answered "that's the sound of the police" with zero hesitation so I think we're all doing just fine, thank you.

In many Western countries a majority of people believes immigrants are to blame for the worsening economic conditions. This isn't the case. Follow the money: SMEs are struggling but multinationals owned by the 0.1% richest are thriving. Concentration of money & power, aka Oligarchy, is the issue.

What bothers me most about the Trump govt is that it is openly contemptuous of ordinary Americans. They have a social Darwinistic view & feel that only the strong have a right to survive. This, to me, is the antithesis of what democratic governance is about & it should not be tolerated.
