The structural break after which we were no longer a full democracy, when 5 Wizards In Robes decided they were a super-legislature & counting all the actual votes didn’t matter. 25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

It doesn't matter what we do in the cause of liberation, we will always be called violent, terrorists, & more. Rather than solely trying to disprove these accusations, we have to articulate why we *are* justified to act in ways which upset those in power & damage property.

the fundamental problem with these people (not jonathan) is that they don’t seem to believe in anything. if you’re willing to sacrifice one of the foundational rights of constitutional government on the altar of “buh this might not be popular” then what won’t you sacrifice?
If you think you can't make a political issue out of "people shouldn't be grabbed off the street and put in a foreign gulag forever," maybe consider getting out of politics/punditry. And these aren't technical slogans: they appear in the Declaration of Independence and in the Constitution (twice).

If someone says "I can't do [thing]", and you want to help them, the correct response is not "I will help you become able to do [thing]", it is "I will help you become able to accomplish your goals without needing to be able to do [thing]".
