DSA-LA now pro-2028 Olympics, years after
@nolympicsla.bsky.social started as a DSA working group. Wow. Slap in the face to so many organizers.
NOlympics LA started as a DSA-LA working group. This year, they decided to make their bed with Unite Here’s reformist platform.

Our position is that the Olympics cannot be reformed. Efforts to do so elsewhere have consistently failed. There is no “good” way to host the Olympics.

I have never swiped away from a reel so fast as the reel I just saw where a girl said: "men playing these games are green flags.
1. Skyrim. He's been playing this game since he was 10 years old"

In the 1930s we had WW2, because Germany was invading and annexing other countries, and we called it the war on fascism.

But it feels important to remember that if Germany didn't start invading other countries, the war on fascism might not have happened.

I know it's because of the shutdown, but it's hard not to compare this to the curtailed air traffic in Nazi Germany and restricted travel changes, making it harder to leave.

The FAA is cutting 10% of air traffic at 40 of the nation's busiest airports, canceling hundreds of flights and creating uncertainty for many more passengers. Here's what to do if you're one of them.

Again, I know that with *everything else* that is going on, it's hard to care about NASA, but this is the thing that is going to screw humanity down the line. It's going to impact your kids and your grandkids.

This impacts whether we are able to watch climate change

NASA is sinking its flagship science center during the government shutdown — and may be breaking the law in the process, critics say
"There is just a general acknowledgement that a lot of what is happening is illegal…"

Accepting work backpack recommendations.

Ideally fits a 15" laptop, a big book for reading on transit, with a more accessible pocket for things I would normally throw in a purse because giving women pockets is still a hurdle we have not jumped

As much as I hate leaving for work at 7:10 to catch a bus, I love not driving.

Doing whatever tf I want for an hour makes going in every day less miserable

Not that I'm biased by my personal needs, but I want a rail option from SFV to Pasadena. I love the A-line for people who have access to it. And I am psyched for the sepulveda corridor transit.

But I really wish LA metro and LADOT would service the valley better.

one thing that's nice about canceling your New York Times sub is every week you get at least one or two stories shared on here that make you say, "yeah, it rocks that I did that, I only wish I could do it again." highly recommend you cancel yours if you haven't already

Taking the bus takes 2 hours, but that's 2 hours of me *not driving.*

And somehow that's worth it to me
