This is 100% correct. If you don’t have documents proving legal status, we don’t issue an SSN. No SSN, no benefits. And we don’t just assume the documents are valid. Every applicant’s status is verified with immigration. Every. Single. Time. Period. Don’t believe their lies. Tell your friends.

This is depressingly common now. A lot of people have in absentia removal orders they don't know about. And now that the benefits office is becoming an arm of the mass deportation machine, so people are getting picked up in this situation -- and grace to give time to file a motion to reopen is gone.
I have approximately zero following on this app, sharing in the hopes it can get in front of the right person. A man I went to college with’s wife was kidnapped by ICE at a green card hearing, and he’s trying to find a reporter who will speak to him about the situation

The US state department announced on Saturday that it would stop issuing visas to children from Gaza in desperate need of medical care after an online pressure campaign from Laura Loomer, a far-right influencer close to Donald Trump who has described herself as “a proud Islamophobe”.
“All visitor visas for individuals from Gaza are being stopped while we conduct a full and thorough review of the process and procedures used to issue a small number of temporary medical-humanitarian visas in recent days,” the state department said in a message posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, which Loomer was banned from before it was purchased by Elon Musk. This is what democracy looks like, small town NC. So many people were already at the destination park, that the marchers turned around and filled a second park, and lined the town streets. Lots of cars honking in support.
