I actually quite liked the "corruption ultimately wins" ending - it at least had something angry to say - but wouldn't hate a preposterous happy ending either.

It used to be so much easier on the internet. You’d have a video of a dramatic chipmunk and everyone would agree it was perfect but then you could add a little lightsaber to him and everyone would go huzzah now the text is even richer

Enjoyed The Running Man. Timely fun, maybe has its cake and eats it but says what it wants to say and punches you in the face with it (in a fun way). Glen Powell effortlessly charming. Recommend.

Had a lovely weekend as a guest at London Comic Con and was most pleased by the person who sought me out for my Commando books.

God we need more craft discussions and less fights about which tropes are good or bad that play out in a way that makes it clear no one even understands what a trope is anymore.
Romance should evolve, but its so clear when people want the shine and financial benefit of Romance without respecting the genre, its conventions, or the readers. It's disturbing, but not surprising that we've arrived in a place where CRAFT DOESNT MATTER is a thing people believe.

Honestly its mad this *isn't* a Kelvinverse given the working history with Pine. But if you're not going to give them the Dungeons and Dragons sequel they richly deserved... this will make up for it.

Had a stress dream that rolled various day job anxieties into one and the worst bit was I ended up very disappointed in Bob Mortimer who was also there.

In all seriousness? I blame the audience. People don't turn up for new IP but do for the familiar (while bemoaning the lack of new stories). Are there other factors? Sure. Teaching audiences it'll be on Disney+ in five weeks amongst them. But if we want more new stories we have to turn up for them.
How long are Disney Pixar going to milk this for? 😅

Toy Story 3 ending - absolute perfection

Toy Story 4 ending - ok, bittersweet, but not as bad as expected.

Should have stopped THERE

The worst aspect of the loss of Star Wars Insider and Star Trek Explorer (other than jobs) is these were great avenues for short fiction and I'm sad to see both franchises lose that. And I had both on my career to do list so that is extra sad for me.

Okay. Rewatched Jurassic World Rebirth too. Still a lot of fun. Tells its story. Ends. Lots of dinosaurs.

It is mad no one is doing anything in comics with that licence though and if IDW don't want it anymore how do I convince Universal give it to @cutawaycomics.bsky.social (and by extension me)?

Just rewatched F1 again (blu ray came out today) and, yep, still a fave of the year. A ridiculously slick hollywood production that had to shoot almost guerilla style under intense circumstances and a triumph of in-camera technical filmmaking.

Finally got round to watching all of The Good Place so now I am in beautiful broken bits. So once I have made food we're going to watch series two of Squid Game: The Challenge to remind myself people are truly awful and beyond saving.
