When I see people online, even in jest, suggest that people living in Republican-controlled states should be abandoned because of their politicians, I feel a deep heartache. New York CREATED Donald Trump and none of y’all are ever talk about it the way you disparage Alabama or Mississippi.

Today, the US Senate passed the Reconciliation Bill (51-50) which includes numerous cuts to Medicaid that will jeopardize the health of more than 14 million people. The House could now take up the bill as soon as tomorrow!

Some Senators are floating the idea of a relief fund to help rural hospitals hurt by Medicaid cuts. A relief fund could help hospitals, and preserve access to care for rural residents. But, a hospital relief fund does nothing for people who lose Medicaid and end up uninsured.

Georgia did this with their pathways program. It 1) didn’t work - they have enrolled like .5% of the eligible pop. and 2) it’s insanely expensive - $13000 per enrollee and far more expensive than traditional Medicaid to implement.
