Woke up to the extra good news that my district turned blue in the city council race, woohoo!

The Dem won by 6%, which is A LOT for this area.

I think I know what Rachel Maddow means when she says there's New York and there's America, but she needs to stop saying it now.

A two-sticker day at my polling place!
October 31, 2025 at 6:39 PM
Yeah, no one flocks to the polls on the first weekend of early voting because they can't wait to fill in that bubble for Andrew Cuomo.

I'm the oldest cohort of Gen X and I'm so excited to vote for Mamdani. Confusion over ballot proposals is the only reason I didn't vote yesterday.

New York friends, what are your thoughts on ballot proposals 5 and 6? I want to early vote, but I'm undecided on these.

I'm a no on 1-4, because I'm for "forever wild" and against anything Eric Adams is for.

A digital map of NYC seems okay, is there something I'm missing?

I promised to report back on the new radiator valves and...they work!! The beginning of heat season has always been a time of dread. When it was mildly chilly outside, it was, like, 87 in here even with all the windows open and fans on. Today, heat on, windows closed, and it's a comfy 74. Woohoo!!!
After nearly a decade of suffering through my overheated apartment in the winter, I finally had thermostatic radiator valves installed on all my radiators. It was so expensive, lol, but worth the investment for my quality of life. No more 90-degree nights in February, woohoo!

I wrote a trilogy of novels published by HarperCollins about a brother and sister caught on opposite sides of the war to unite Viking Age Norway.

Today is my birthday and if you are inclined to share this, it would be a lovely present!

The Half-Drowned King|Paperback
"Linnea Hartsuyker brings myth and legend roaring to life in this superbly good page-turning saga of Viking-era Norway. The book’s fiercest magic shines in the characters of Ragnvald and Svanhil...

Friends who enjoy a mocktail, I just learned about these Italian non-alcoholic bitters sodas. I may be the last to find out, but just in case, these little gems actually taste like a Negroni. There are different brands, mine is Sanbitter. They are pricey since imported, but a lovely special treat

Before the hyperthyroidism set in, Gabby was a bit chonky and not a great jumper. Now that she’s at a vet-approved weight, she’s MUCH more mobile and goes everywhere I don’t want her to be. You will not be surprised to hear that I have def lost this battle.

Do I know anyone in the SC area who knows someone (or *is* someone) who wants to adopt two cats? I desperately need to find a home for my parents' two cats. I already have three, so I can't take them. They are boarding at their vet while I look, and I have to go home to PA in less than a week.

In ongoing mysteries of the building...why does the hall suddenly reek of cat pee? I mean, it's such a strong odor it's as if a cat actually peed there.

I can't smell it in my apartment, so whatever. But just...how?

I wish I could find advice about COVID vaccine side effects from a legit source that wasn't like...use an ice pack and take some Tylenol. No duh. Last time I had an intermittent high fever for 2 days, fainted, which resulted in a fall, and was exhausted for a week. Ice pack ain't helping me.
