I had the biggest crush on Christine “Moose” McGlade. Also, the show taught me “sucks” (as in “that sucks”) which led to my minister dad threatening to cut off cable.
I remember seeing You Can't Do That On Television as a kid and I still don't understand how any of that happened
I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

Passing out Thanksgiving at South Oak Cliff HS in Dallas! There’s still plenty to go around!

I saw this for the first time when it came out on video. I rode my bike to Blockbuster and brought it home after school.

My mom saw the tape and said, “I’ve always wanted to watch that!”

So the first time I watched it, I watched it with my mom.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
After listening to the sound track all day, I had to rewatch it.

Brad and Janet run into trouble on their honeymoon - a flat tire, and the only place in sight is the castle of the lovely Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

Don't be shy-who else loves this movie?

Patron: Sure! I love spicy--wait, did you say "habanero"?

It seems like Musk hasn’t actually read Heinlein, either. (And if he has, he certainly didn’t grok it.)
I’m really starting to suspect that most of the tech bros haven’t actually read Tolkien, as they certainly don’t understand it.

The gentle hobbits save the “hard men” of Gondor, largely through compassion and selflessness. Not the other way around. The Christian parable is barely hidden!
Elon Musk: "It is time for the English to ally with the hard men, like Tommy Robinson, and fight for their survival or they shall surely all die" 29th October 2025. 2 million views in its first hour.

Dear store owner,

I was horned up on crack-sucking leggings.

Even if Elon’s stupid little cartoon were true, it doesn’t follow that you abandon the spot you’re on and run way past the guy on the right.
👇🎯🧵 I wish Ezra would simply not repeat unsubstantiated lies & the far right authoritarian party’s talking points on his podcasts. His views, as articulated here, are functionally indistinguishable from those of Elon Musk. But then, this is the guy who talks now about “birth tourism” so 🤷‍♂️

It’s no surprise that a man who believes in nothing but his own aggrandizement can’t imagine anyone being motivated by anything other than money.
Trump: "Even that garbage deal they had this wknd, which was embarrassing to them. And the crowds were not big at all. But when you look at signs and they're all made professionally in a printing shop, some guy is paying for all that stuff ... they're going crazy because they're getting paid"

You used to have to go to Mad Magazine for that sort of thing.

“Nuanced vision” aren’t the two words that come to mind.
This oped is actually pretty bad. Caldwell claims that “the military of the 2020s has been as overburdened by the imperatives of progressivism as schools were by the duties of racial integration in the 1970s” and that Hegseth “outlined a nuanced vision of the military’s purpose” in his speech.

That's not a fun task and he's not enjoying that responsibility...if they keep the govt closed, it's gonna get more & more painful"

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Fascism!™️
It's becoming clear that this is not an administration that is popular or skilled enough to do the consolidation needed to implement actual fascism, so they've decided that constantly creating fascism-flavored content is good enough

“If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.” - W.C. Fields
heggseth's weird podcast rant (delivered to 800 generals and admirals for some reason) is just another sign of how this is a tv presidency. they don't really know how to do policy. their instinct is theater. encounter a problem? put on a spectacle

I wonder if we'll ever see the day that a screenwriter wins a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for a screenplay they based upon an AI-generated story.

e.g., the writer feeds a prompt into ChatGPT, ChatGPT spits out a story, the screenwriter works from that.

Just saying it out loud.
Larry Ellison envisions a surveillance state in which techbros rule. '“Citizens will be on their best behavior, because we’re constantly recording and reporting everything that is going on,” Ellison said in an hour-long Q&A during Oracle’s Financial Analyst Meeting last week.'

Compelled speech is not freedom of speech. Starbucks didn’t stop her from saying the name when ordering. Giving a name to a barista doesn’t compel them to say it. Starbucks doesn’t always call out names.
