Robbie Gibb was appointed to the BBC Board by Boris Johnson, was an editorial advisor for GB News, and worked as Theresa May's Director of Comms.

He is not impartial or neutral. The government should remove him from the Board immediately to protect the BBC's independence.

BREAKING

After a debate in Parliament, the Government has accepted my Private Members’ Water Bill.

As of today:

• Above-inflation water bill hikes suspended
• Dividend payouts halted
• Citizens’ Assembly on water ownership confirmed

Democratic control of water is here!

This is what the government did with 120K+ Japanese Americans in 1942.

I know. I was there in those camps.

Our NHS is not for sale.

Trade talks with Trump must not open the door to US healthcare companies profiting from our NHS. Keir Starmer must protect our NHS by keeping it off the table during negotiations. Join me by adding your name to 38 Degrees’ petition:

Excellent piece in Private Eye on Musk and company donations to political parties.

They make a good suggestion: companies should only be able to donate to parties when the ultimate owner can vote here.

Also interesting that Twitter UK is late in filing its accounts, a criminal offence...

I think Bluesky is a great platform and I’m here to stay. However, a bookmark function would make the experience SO much better and much more functional for research/ information gathering, especially for reporters. Pretty please @support.bsky.team @bsky.app ?

Dear BlueSkyers. Sadly I'm getting many reports of scammers pretending to be me here, incl messaging people with 'investments' . Pls share/help me spread word that, as you know, THIS IS MY ONLY BLUE SKY account (proved as my handle is an official MoneySavingExpert one). All others are scams

So, the Tory manifesto did not include an inquiry into grooming gangs and the Tories ignored ALL recommendations from the 2022 report, but they attack Starmer for smearing “those concerned” as “far right”. Which he didn’t.
They’re just the most repulsive bunch of arseholes.
And far right apologists.

This is important & necessary. I’d add only that a) It’s clear many of the political & media figures deliberately ignoring these facts are playing with the sort of fire we saw on our streets this summer & b) Laura Kuenssberg’s failure to point this out to Farage was an appalling dereliction of duty.
Some people in recent days have alleged a ‘cover-up’ over the grooming & rape of hundreds of young girls in predominantly northern UK towns, leading to calls for a ‘national’ public inquiry into child sexual exploitation

FWIW here’s a non-exhaustive list of inquiries into #CSE in last 12 yrs…

Five months ago, I recorded a 10-minute explanation, as a former regulator, of why the UK would be not only perfectly within its rights to ban twitter, but probably ought to.

Maybe now people will listen.

A reminder that Sadiq Khan successfully won three elections in a row by large majorities against Conservative opponents, one of whom, Shaun Bailey, was then given a seat in the House of Lords for life.

Funnily enough I don't remember the Daily Mail describing that as a "reward for failure"

BBC’s Chris Mason calls Farage a “master of storytelling”
Maybe the BBC could stop helping him out and tell another story. One about a grifting prejudiced conman who’s wrecked our country with his ‘Breaking Point’ Brexit but has never been held to account for the lies he’s told, the damage he’s done.

All donations that originate from abroad, no matter who is the final donor, should be banned. Only UK citizens should be allowed to donate to British political organisations
