You know the "🔹AI Overview" you get on Google Search?

I discovered today that it's repeating as fact something I made up 7 years ago as a joke.

"Kyloren syndrome" is a fictional disease I invented as part of a sting operation to prove that you can publish any nonsense in predatory journals...

Dang, RIP Alice.
Every year on Thanksgiving at 12pm, I, like many others, turn on the radio to listen to "Alice's Restaurant." Growing up, I'd sit w/my parents and listen; now, I sit w/my kids

Alice died today at 83

You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant (excepting Alice)

aside from being lazy engagement bait, this "you must inhabit spaces inundated with right wing ideology if you want to be a well-rounded person" stuff is really just an evolution of the "journalism must trip over itself to be kind to Republicans or his has a 'liberal bias'" stuff

Austin local TV news KXAN just had a story about RFK Jr's upcoming war on "chemicals in breakfast cereals" and interviewed Vani "The Food Babe" Hari as a "food expert". What a travesty.

Work from home was a boon to productive workers and an absolute catastrophe for the group of middle managers and executives who make their living putting their names on other people's work and that latter group started to undermine it as soon as they realized this.
I do not understand why, after remote work has been repeatedly proven to be just as productive (if not more so) than in-office work, people should be required to return to in-office work in order to justify the money the bosses spent on real estate.
Demanding that people go back to the office five days a week has been shown to punish staff who are lower-income, parents, and disabled. It is also not necessary for reporters and journalists who do much of their work in the field, on the phone, or on laptop computers that can be used anywhere.

I have to say, while I am loving my time over here, I am concerned that many of the more famous folks out there aren't verifying themselves by using a custom domain to positively identify themselves. I will remain skeptical they are who they say they are until the *.bsky.social is gone.

I know this "bring your own domain" as your handle feature of BSky is meant to be a more elegant solution than even the old blue checkmark system on that other site (and it is!), so not really intended for nobodies like me. But I'm a nerd, I *can* do it, so dangit, I done did it.

This article is totally insane; NPR should be ashamed. The headlines and lede give you no indication at all that RFK is a crank whose claims about vaccines are false and threaten public health. Would they write a story saying "Alex Jones wants to inform the public but he faces a lot of pushback"?

RFK Jr. wants to tackle chronic disease. Despite controversial views on vaccines, his focus on healthy food and taking on special interests may find broad support — and face political headwinds.

This X account has been given a grey checkmark, verifying it as an official government account.

It also only accepts resumes be DM's, which are solely open to verified X users who pay Elon Musk.

This level of corruption is staggering.
