How was this song ever popular or okay?

It’s basically the #NotAllMen anthem.

How are people liking this app? Better than Twitter? Different?

I’m looking to start posting again—the last few months were really rough, but I have lots of experiences to share.

What’s the best social platform right now?

[cw: disordered eating]

Ugh. I keep seeing this ad for a “nutritional supplement for weight loss” that makes you poop a lot.” It is essentially a laxative.

The weight loss industry keeps selling people literal eating disorders.

This is why being a billionaire should be illegal. No single person should have this power.
Elon Musk acknowledged that he foiled an attack on Russia last year by refusing to let Ukraine use his satellite network, Starlink, to guide its drones. The news highlights concerns in Kyiv and Washington about his outsize influence in the war.

It’s normalized in our culture for a parent to unload their psychological weight on their child, but it is actually abuse

at ANY age. Full stop.

The problem with #YouAreSoNotInvitedToMyBatMitzvah isn’t that it’s unfunny. It’s very funny and charming at times.

The problem is that it portrays a tiny group—ultra-wealthy LA/NYC Jews—as representative of Jewish culture.

This is a big problem.

When do abusive, manipulative parents stop messing with you?

Because I’m 39, have gone no-contact with one and minimal contact with the other, and they’re still finding ways to insert themselves into my life and assert control.

To paraphrase the great Kurt Vonnegut, we are the stories we tell ourselves about what we are, and so we must be careful about what we tell ourselves we are.
Really starting to think it’s not only history that we’re in danger of repeating, it’s science fiction.
Per the PR email I just got, tech CEOs are actually pitching their products as "like that Black Mirror episode" as a selling point now. Hm.

There Will Be Blood is an almost perfect movie. Every shot, every bit of dialogue is intentional. The portrayal of the strange bedfellows of capitalism and religion—and the dangers of power in both—is brilliant.

If only that asshole Scott Rudin wasn’t involved.

Holy wow. The documentary The Day After Trinity, about The Manhattan Project, is incredible.

It’s streaming on Criterion, and it was filmed in 1980-81, so it interviews many of the physicists who worked with Oppenheimer, including his brother.

Four years ago today, I drove from NJ to the airport in Baltimore to pick up Jame @heyjame.bsky.social

It was the first time we ever met in person.

We kissed, and it was suddenly like everything up to that moment made sense.

From there, we drove straight into the ninth circle of hell. 🧵
