The media have been complicit with the government in covering up the threat of the ongoing Covid pandemic and the risks to the public.

If they’re recommending N95s, we should pay attention.

They don’t suggest masks lightly.

I often wondered how pandemics might lead to deteriorating political and social conditions.

Now I know.

Pandemics are an opportunity for leaders to teach people to accept vast numbers of deaths… to burn out our connection with each other.

Yes Covid is an occupational hazard! You’re putting your livelihood at risk daily! Compensated 200,000 Soles which is equal to $78,599 Canadian dollars. Is $78K enough for you to live on if you could no longer work? Hope this sets a precedent for more workplace lawsuits & we finally get clean air 🙏

You don't need unity to fight fascism. You need solidarity. They are not the same thing.

They are NOT worried about people dying. And so many of us have been conditioned to play along with normalized mass death to the point of not even being arsed to do something simple like masking. That’s why I’ll die on the hill that masking is resistance, among other things.
Do you think they're worried about the political consequences of poor, elderly, and disabled people dying? Our 2020 COVID losses happened and Trump is back. Preventable mass death was further normalized, which further normalized mass murder, which made genocide background noise for most people here.

Sure, they will sometimes cause people to suffer and die out of sheer incompetence, but assuming they don't want to cause people to die gives them way too much credit. It's def part of the formula. They just may kill people they didn't mean to kill sometimes.

As ludicrous as this is, it shouldn't be taken lightly. In treating all porn like CSAM, he's talking about criminalizing possession of as little as a nude — on your phone, your hard drive, your bookshelf — and making it a felony.

Sexting would be criminal distribution. Police could raid your home.

One thing we can all do right now is to talk to friends and family who aren't paying attention, who aren't on Bluesky. Explain what is happening and why it presents a danger to them (not just to "democracy" or "rule of law"). Not easy conversations but important for public opinion.

Correct he’s always been a Nazi above all else. So many people thought that him getting fucked in the Twitter deal would cause him to either sell or change tactic. It never was going to because he’s always first and foremost been about subjugation and white supremacy.
How Musk behaves after this will show he’s more ideological than people think. He won’t adjust to appease customers & shareholders.

He’s not just pulling a con for business leverage. He’s a genuine fascist & white nationalist. Dismissing him as a con artist underplays his danger.

I think this exact thought every single time I hear any of them talking about whatever various minorities “scamming” the government through social programs. It’s “welfare queens” all over again. The shit I grew up hearing about in the 80s. Weird it’s almost like it all boils down to the same shit.
Musk's rhetoric about Social Security and SNAP as "money magnets for illegal immigrants" is no different from the "welfare queen" rhetoric of the 1980s. He's pushing to gut a system that provides already inadequate (but very much needed) help to many by tapping into popular bigotries.

Can confirm. Chronic illness poses challenges that are hard to imagine until you’re in it. Or until you can learn to listen to & be in solidarity with chronically ill/disabled people. Wouldn’t it be nice to choose the latter rather than increase your chances of being blindsided by the former? 😷😷😷
If you think masking is too hard, you’re not going to like living with chronic illness.

If you’re still angry about “lockdowns”, the isolation and loss of autonomy that comes with disability will be a considerable struggle.

Wear a mask. Clean the air. Protect your health. It’s worth it.
