the worries about ICE are absolutely justified for those attending MFF but I want you all to remember that these guys are also massive pussies who sweat when like 3 people start yelling at them, and there are going to be literal tens of thousands of us there. do with that information what you will.

🔹 Entropy 🔹
9" x 12" mixed media on reclaimed panel.

Probably my most important painting from last year. A wolf made of falling apart, a radical and fierce acceptance of the decay and change of self, of becoming a part of everything else.

"Red Dragon", 4" x 5" mixed media on gesso-primed reclaimed bamboo flooring panel.

A fun piece from last year! This felt like really hitting my stride w/ the mixed media materials I've been picking up, namely poscas and wax pastels in this case.

🔻 THE BEST IS YET TO COME 🔻
9" x 12" mixed media on panel

Despite all the reasons to despair, to fear, despite knowing there is surely anguish yet to come: I also know this to be true. I have not lived to see my best moments yet. There is triumph and beauty and love still hidden over the horizon.

In order to show up as a good organizer, youe going to have to do your personal homework. You are going to have to view it as an ongoing, life-long endeavor to understand your way around your own ego and how to set it aside.
Otherwise you will get caught up in infighting instead of shared struggle.

If an unhoused person isn't safe, you're not safe. Show up for your local unhoused community.
So it’s flown under the radar but Utah just went forward with forced labor interment camps for the homeless at the direction of the Trump administration.

We are seeing the construction of the infrastructure for industrialized death and forced enslavement for those seen as a drag on society.

It’s about to get ugly. Odds are millions are about to go hungry, starting at the end of this week. Our duty is not just to feed as many people as we can, but to organize, transform underlying conditions, beat fascism, and not allow this travesty to continue.

Millions are about to go hungry. We need to build power with them.
It's time to feed each other and organize for power at the same time

Things have been slow going as I try to gently dig myself out of this burn out hole, but I finally got to make some real progress with this piece! I'm closing in on the finish now...

It would be a really cool and swag time to not just donate to food banks but if you have socialist and communist orgs in your area to connect with them and see if you can join and use your time to combine explicit political engagement and food aid / food delivery

Most are also raising money

What you see time and again in the social history of conflicts and social unrest at least in America is that elites panic and capitulate while the population rises to the occasion and protects one another as best they can. America is a lot of things but its population is the real power here.
Nine months ago I put most of my hope in major institutions continuing to hold fascism in check, but had little expectation that regular people with little to no power would step up and put themselves at risk.

I had it exactly backward.
signs like these are up all over Chicago cafes and storefronts (here, cafes in Brighton Park and Back of the Yards) warning ICE not to enter without a judicial warrant

Continued progress with the roadrunner today, after a day or two of being too worn out to do art. I've done a lot of experimental layers since the last WIP shot I posted, but it feels like I'm starting to dial in more closely now.

The fear of "being a bother" seems, over and over again, to be the thing that winds up creating an inconvenience to oneself and others. Speaking from experience of having been on both sides a lot!

A healthy social group should emphasize the practice of asking for help easily and often...

Ideal conditions for starting your passion project will never come. You will never feel skilled enough to make it. There will never be a moment where you stop being scared to start. Do it anyway. Do it badly. Do it scared. Just make that thing that’s clawing at the door of your soul; It wants out.

This piece really is where I hit my stride during the art jam I did this time last year! I knew I was getting into something cool with these big abstracted shapes and interlocking mark-making.
Original sold.

looking into the article, important part to it is this was initiated by italian unions, making it possible to organize such action at all. which reinforces for what and why such union restrictions exist in america. keeping labor down doesn't just generate wealth, it also suppresses other movements.
