classic rule of thumb for writing alt text when you're lost, lands every time. i guess we just need the familiar social context, rather than thinking of it as an academic writing assignment
say what you'd say about it over the phone

I scored 12/28 on jsdate.wtf and all I got was this lousy text to share on social media.

There should be a little badge you can wear to let people know that your hair is 'doing a thing' today. I'm not trying to look like this. This isn't who I am. I invite you to accept it as I have and join me in hoping for better tomorrows.

How @KentBeck thinks about AI coding tools and agents:

"They're like a genie. They grant your wishes... but not quite how you expect it. Then you tell it that it's not what you wanted.

'Oh, I'm sorry...'

The genie is good at apologizing. But it's not good at meaning it."

I have an answer for this now!

I've come to think of MCP as a presentation layer, more like HTML than JSON. Both MCP tools and the results returned should be useful when shoved into an LLM's context window.

You're kind of making a weird website specifically for LLMs.
MCP looks nifty, but it also kinda just looks like RPC? What does this standard solve for that, say, GRPC doesn't? What am I missing here?

Reminder that Bluesky has a setting to remind you to include alt text, so you don't forget

Alt text isn't just helpful for screen readers, it's also generally helpful for understanding the image
Remember you alt-text, people! I've seen at least three things I wanted to repost this morning, but didn't because they didn't have alt-text!

Tip if you work somewhere where you have to do performance reviews -

If there's work you've done that you are particularly proud of, or if someone thanked you for it, you should immediately make a note of it

Then whenever it's time for your review, you have a collection of highlights already

We should bring back devices that just do one thing, my phone should be a phone, my music should be on an MP3 player, I love my Kobo reader because it’s really good at that one single thing. Short form content should be just removed from existence, YouTube should go back to being fun.
